WD My Passport Wireless Pro Storage Firmware 1.01.11 Description

Resolved Issues:

- Resolved issue of unable to mount some SD cards, and cards that are formatted OS X Extended
- Resolved issue of some iOS devices unable to connect to the 5 GHz network with default password
- Resolved issue of some high speed SD cards that may cause the device to enter recovery mode with all LED blinking
- Improved device suspend and shutdown to prevent file system error
- Added file system check at boot up and alert message in web dashboard if file system error is detected
- Added ability in web dashboard to reset Plex Media Server database

Known Issues:

- High capacity SD cards (32GB+) formatted as exFAT by some cameras may create duplicate entries when a backup is performed
- Under certain conditions, the My Passport Wireless Pro may fail to properly resume from suspend mode. Workaround: Reboot the My Passport Wireless Pro
- SD cards formatted by Samsung NX200 and Blackmagic Pocket Camera will not be properly detected.
- Workaround: Format the SD card in a Windows or Mac with FAT32 or exFAT file system before using with the camera

To update the firmware:

- Download the firmware to your desktop and you will find the actual firmware in this format: MyPassportWirelessGen2_x.bin.
- Format the SD card in FAT-32 file system.
- Create a folder on the SD card named “update”.
- Copy the MyPassportGen2_x.bin file into the “update” folder.
- Turn OFF the My Passport Wireless Pro.
- Insert the SD Card.
- Turn ON the My Passport Wireless Pro.
- After the My Passport Wireless Pro boot up, the disk LED will start flashing while the update is happening.
- Once the update is complete, the My Passport Wireless Pro will automatically reboot and the LED will return to the normal ON state.

Important product update notes:

- Do not interrupt the firmware upgrade process. Doing so may cause the device to malfunction or render it unable to boot.
- If you are using the manual update method, do not rename the firmware file. Doing so will cause the manual update to fail.

About Network-Attached Storages:

Upgrading the Network-Attached Storage (NAS) firmware can improve the system’s overall performance, stability, and security by adding various fixes for related issues, enhancing existing features (or adding support for new ones), or updating different applications.

Due to the high number of NAS manufacturers, as well as network storage types, installing a new firmware might not be always as easy as it appears – and not too safe either. Failing to perform a software update can cause serious malfunctions to the network storage.

So, before you even consider applying this release, carefully read the installation guide and initiate the process only when you have understood and completely familiarized yourself with all the steps.

Moreover, it would be best if you take into account using a UPS unit (Uninterruptible Power Supply) to perform this task, because no power disruption should affect the upgrade.

With all these aspects in mind, after you have read the installation guide, click the download button to apply this firmware version to your NAS. Remember to check back with our website in order to stay up to speed with the latest releases.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
