Step 1: Access the router’s web-based setup page.
IMPORTANT: Make sure to enter the correct router Internet Protocol (IP) Address in accessing the router’s web-based setup page. The default router IP Address is 192.168.1.1. If this address does not work, it might have been changed when the router was set up so you need to check the new IP Address. If you still can't access the web-based setup page, try resetting the device. This will restore your router to factory defaults.
NOTE: If you encounter a "502 Error" or Bad Gateway Error, you can perform a manual firmware upgrade by bypassing Smart Setup to solve the issue.
Step 2: Click on Administration > Firmware Upgrade.
Step 3: Click the Browse… button.
Step 4: Locate and select the file that you have downloaded then click Open.
NOTE: If you are using Mac OS X, click the Choose button.
Step 5: Click the Start Upgrade button.
A warning prompt stating not to interrupt the upgrade will appear.
However, if you selected the incorrect file a prompt similar to the image below will appear. If this happens, click the OK button and repeat Steps 2 to 4 and select the correct file.
Step 6: Click Continue when it prompts that the upgrade has been successful.
Step 7: Powercycle the router by unplugging it from the power outlet for 10 seconds, then re-plug it.
- The safest way to perform the firmware upgrade is to use a wired computer.
- DO NOT power cycle the Router during the firmware upgrade process.
If you update the Access Point (AP) firmware, your device can benefit from changes that fix multiple issues encountered by wireless clients, correct different user interface problems, add various functionalities, and include support for newly developed protocols.
Before performing this task, we recommend that you read and understand all the installation steps, because there are many AP models and manufacturers available. Each producer strives to make the procedure as simple as possible, but there are cases when it’s anything but that.
It is also advisable that you apply a new access point firmware in a steady power environment (UPS unit will satisfy this need), using an Ethernet cable rather than a wireless connection. The latter can be easily interrupted.
With this in mind, if you wish to apply this version, click the download button and install the package on your access point. Remember to check back with our website as often as possible so that you don’t miss a single new release.
It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
