Sound Devices 664 Field Mixer Firmware 3.10 Description

New:

- Support for 3rd party wireless control, timecode and metadata management including: Timecode Systems (WAVE and PureBlend's MovieSlate iOS app) and Ambient Master Lockit.
- New menu option to disable the CL-12 Output level controls (L, R, X1 and X2). Options for MENU > CL-12 > L-X2 Gain Pots include: Enable or Disable.
- Take Designator can now be set to any alpha character or '-' (T is default) in MENU > FILE STORAGE > Take Designator.

Changes:

- Toggling PFL switch will now save edits to track names when edited from the Input Settings > Edit Channel # Name screen.

Fixed:

- Arming paired LR or X1/X2 tracks using the CL-12 LR, X1/X2 pots did not correctly operate on the pairs.
- Track Name entries from Input Settings Window would not hold if that track name already existed.
- Channels turned off from the CL-12 were reverting back to On after a power cycle.

Known Issues:

- Auto-Mute timecode modes output timecode for a few seconds after booting up from a full shutdown.
- Sound Devices has worked directly with Delkin to identify an intermittent Media I/O issue with newer Delkin CF 500x and CF 700x cards. Delkin has confirmed that a recent change to these two cards is most likely responsible for the errors. Cards containing KZ in the serial number are susceptible to this issue and should not be used. Cards containing VB in the serial number will function correctly and are approved. Deklin CF 1000x and 1050x cards do not experience this issue and may continue to be used.

Prepare to Update:

- Download the 664 firmware file.
- From the zip archive, extract the file within. Copy this .prg file to the root level of an approved SD or CF memory card. Do not place the file in any folder. Do not place the zip file on the SD or CF card. The card must be formatted in the 664.
- Apply Update to 664.
- Power the 664 from external DC. Do not perform the update with low batteries or unstable power sources.
- Power down the 664 if it is already powered up.
- Insert the SD or CF card with the .prg file.
- Power on the 664.
- Navigate to Setup Menu option SYSTEM > Update Firmware and follow the on-screen instructions.
- When the update is complete the 664 will power cycle itself. The version number will be displayed briefly on the splash screen while booting up. A message box appears "Firmware updated successfully Version: XXX". Press "OK". Please note any changes or additions to the Setup Menu (if applicable).

About DJ Mixers:

Updating the mixer’s firmware version can add support for newly developed features (or improve existing ones), enhance audio quality and transition effects, resolve different problems such as those regarding various noises heard in certain situations, and many other related improvements.

However, before downloading this package, go to the unit’s system information and make sure that the currently installed firmware isn’t either newer or matches this release. Moreover, you should know that an update failure might seriously damage the mixer’s software, so it is vital that you are familiar with the installation steps.

As for applying this release, you must transfer the downloadable package (or its content) to the mixer via any available methods, and power up the unit through various key combinations in order to enter update mode (make sure you read the product’s user guide).

This said, if you consider installing this release and you’re positive you have all the knowledge you need for a successful upgrade, download the package, and apply it to your mixer. Check with our website constantly so that you don’t miss any update that can improve your device.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
