Nikon 1 J1 Camera Firmware 1.10 Description

Changes:

- Support for the Mount Adapter FT1 has been added.
- The FT1 enables the use of Nikon F-mount NIKKOR lenses with the J1.
- Primary specifications are as follows:
- Autofocusing is possible when AF-S lenses are used. However, focus mode must be set to AF-S (Single AF) and AF-area mode is fixed at "Single-point" with only the center focus point used.
- The focus indicator (range finder) can be used with CPU lenses.
- [P], [S], [A], and [M] exposure modes can be used with CPU lenses.
- [A] and [M] exposure modes can be used with non-CPU lenses. Aperture is specified using the aperture ring on the lens.
- Vibration reduction (VR) functions when VR lenses are used. Enable vibration reduction, or specify a setting, using switches on the lens.
- Shooting in Motion Snapshot mode is only possible when focus has been acquired with an AF-S lens.
- The Smart Photo Selector function cannot be used.
- A "Pixel mapping" item has been added to the setup menu. Use this feature when unexpected bright spots are recorded in images.

Confirming the firmware version

- Turn on the camera.
- Press the camera’s MENU button and select Firmware version from the setup menu.
- The camera's A and B firmware versions will be displayed.
- Turn off the camera.

Installation Procedure:

- Download and extract the new firmware
- Copy the firmware to the memory card
- Insert the memory card containing the firmware into the camera memory card slot.
- Turn the camera on. If you are updating flash unit firmware, turn the flash unit on as well.
- Press the to display the menus.
- Select Firmware version in the setup menu.
- The current firmware version will be displayed. Highlight Update and press the .
- A firmware update dialog will be displayed. Select Yes.
- The update will begin. Follow the on-screen instruction during the update.
- Confirm that the update was completed successfully.
- Turn the camera off and remove the memory card.
- Format the memory card in the camera.

During the update, do not:

- Remove the memory card
- Turn the device off
- Operate device controls
- Attach or remove lenses, mount adapters, or flash units
- Unplug or disconnect the AC adapter
- Remove the battery
- Subject the device to powerful electromagnetic noise
