Emerson Avocent UMG4000 Universal Management Gateway Firmware 3.1.4.16 Description

This package provides the necessary installation of Emerson Avocent UMG 4000 Universal Management Gateway Firmware version 3.1.4.16.

New features/Fixes:

- The criteria for accepting NTP server synchronization is relaxed to allow time synchronization from NTP servers that are not closely synchronized with their upper-level NTP servers.
- Windows 10 clients are now supported, with some operational limitations for the Internet Explorer 11 and Edge browsers in the detailed comments. Service Processor vKVM access through the Microsoft Edge browser is not supported unless noted for the specific Service Processor. The DSView 4 management software does not support the Microsoft Edge browser.
- Apple Macintosh users are not able to click on an item and drag it across the screen.
- KVM sessions to a Korean Windows operating system client are improved by supporting additional keystrokes specific to the Korean Windows system.

Note:

- If the current appliance version is older than 1.3.2.1, please update to appliance version 1.3.2.1 before upgrading to the latest version.
- If the current appliance version is older than 2.6.0.14, please update to appliance version 2.6.0.14 before upgrading to the latest 3.x.x.x version.

Important notice:

- When upgrading the appliance to version 2.2.1.10 (or later) from 2.1.1.6 (or earlier), please ensure power is retained on the appliance for at least three hours to allow the upgrade to complete. The appliance upgrade process requires more time in this version as the FPGA is being upgraded.

Installation steps:

To add SP firmware to the repository:
1. From the sidebar of the Administration tab, click Targets-SP Management, then click the Firmware Repository tab. The page displays all the firmware stored in either the local or remote repository.
2. Click Add to add new firmware to the repository.
3. Use the drop-down menu to store the firmware locally on the appliance or remotely via the network share.
4. Use the drop-down menu to select the firmware profile and enter a firmware version or comment as desired.
5. Click Upload , then browse to where the firmware is stored and click Open to upload it.

To view or upgrade firmware for supported SPs:
1. From the sidebar of the Administration tab, click Targets-SP Management, then click the FirmwareUpgrade tab.
2. A list of connected SPs appear with the SP's name, IP address, type, current firmware version, supported firmware version, upgrade status and last result. You can sort SPs by profile by using the Profile drop-down menu and then clicking Apply . You can refresh the page by clicking Refresh.
3. To upgrade an SP's firmware, check the box next to the SP and click Upgrade .
4. On the Upgrade screen, check the box if you want to restore the default configuration for the SP after upgrading.
5. Use the drop-down menu to select the firmware version stored in the repository for the upgrade.
6. Check the box to schedule an upgrade for a later time and enter the desired date and time for the upgrade. Leave the box unchecked to perform an immediate upgrade.
7. Click Continue . You will return to the Firmware Upgrade screen and the Upgrade Status for the SP you've chosen to upgrade will change to In Progress.

By applying this firmware, your gateway can receives fixes for various vulnerability issues, support for newly developed technologies, several authentication-related enhancements, as well as other changes.

However, due to the wide variety of gateway models, as well as the large number of manufacturers, in order to perform a firmware update properly, it would be best if you read and understand the installation steps of this specific model.
