Yamaha SB168-ES Interface Firmware 1.10 Description

This package contains the necessary installation files of Yamaha SB168-ES Interface Firmware version 1.10.

New features:

- Now supports the Auto Configure function of the M7CL-48ES.

Installation steps:

1. Connect the NETWORK jack on the rear panel of the SB168-ES unit to the Ethernet jack on the computer using an Ethernet cable.
2. Make a note of the current settings of the dip switches located on the front panel of the SB168-ES. Write down the current dip switch settings before you modify them in the next step, since you will need to return the switches to their original settings in step 8.
3. Set dip switches 5 and 6 (located on the front panel of SB168-ES) to the down position (ON), leave dip switches 7 and 8 in the up position (OFF), then turn on the power to the SB168-ES. All +48V indicators will blink and the unit will start up in Update mode.
4. Double-click [update.exe]. The SB168-ES Update Program will start up. Make sure that the fields in the "File" section indicate as follows:
- file name :SB168-ES_PROG.bin
- product name :SB168-ES_PROG
- version :Version number to which the firmware will be updated

NOTE

:
- When running under Windows Vista / 7, the "User Account Control" dialog box may appear.
Click [Continue] or [Yes].
5. Click the [Connection] button in the “Connect and Update” column. The “product name” field will display “SB168-ES,” and the “version” field will display the version number of the SB168-ES firmware.

NOTE:

- If these fields are empty, your computer may not be properly connected to the SB168-ES. Please make sure that the cable is not disconnected or damaged, that the TCP/IP settings are correct, and that the SB168-ES has started in Update mode.
6. Click the [Update] button in the “Connect and Update” column. The update operation will begin. The update will take about 90 seconds. During the update operation, do not turn off the power to the unit or disconnect the cable. If update fails due to disconnection of the power cable during the update, or due to other reasons, the device may become inoperative.
7. When the “Connect and Update” section displays the message “Updating was completed. Close this Update Program” click the [X] button in the upper-right corner of the program window to close the program.
8. Turn off the power to the SB168-ES, then return the dip switches to their original settings. Return the dip switches back to the settings you noted in step 2.

About Firmware Update:

Applying a newer firmware version than the one already installed on your unit can bring various enhancements, include workarounds for diverse problems encountered by the device, and improve or add newly developed features.

On the other hand, downgrading the firmware version can recover the device’s functionality in the event of a software update either turning up faulty or causing the unit’s overall performance to drop. However, bear in mind that applying an older firmware isn’t recommended and might not always be possible.

When it comes to the update steps, due to the large variety of devices and numerous ways for installing a new firmware, it is recommended that you carefully read and understand the upgrade steps, and consider applying a different firmware only when you have familiarized yourself with the update method.

As the installation process is most of the times quite risky, this step should be taken by users that have the ability to successfully complete the update; regular users may initiate it at their own risk. Moreover, it’s best that this task be performed in a steady power environment such as the one ensured by a UPS unit.

Therefore, if you consider applying this release, hit the download button, take into account all the aforementioned aspects, and update the device’s firmware. Also make sure you constantly check with our website to ensure that you don’t miss a single new release.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
