STMicroelectronics ST-LINK/V2-1 In-circuit Debugger/Programmer Firmware Updater 2.27.15 Description

Corrections:

- Fixed a regression which made the V2J26M15 not functional on few host systems.
Failing boards may be recovered either:
a) by upgrading the firmware to V2J27M15 from another host, not presenting the incompatibility with the V2J26M15
b) or by forcing manually the upgrade mode of the board, when possible. For instance on Nucleo-64 boards, by making a little shortcut between 'RST' and 'SB11' pads behind the board. This way the firmware may be upgraded afterwards, even on host presenting the incompatibility with the V2J26M15. On other ST-LINK/V2-1 boards, refer to the schematics of the board to find how toreset the STM32F103CB microcontroller (solder bridge on 'STM_RST' signal).

Windows Upgrade instructions:

1. Ensure that the ST-LINK/V2 driver is installed first. If not, please follow this LINK for all details.
2. Download the latest ST-LINK/V2-1 firmware upgrade.
3. Extract the archive and run the STLinkUpgrade.exe program.
4. Plug the Nucleo board to your PC using a standard USB cable and wait until the USB enumeration is completed.
5. Press the Connect button.
6. When the ST-LINK/V2 driver is correctly installed, the current ST-LINK/V2 version is displayed.
7. Press Yes button to start the upgrade process.
8. You should now have successfully upgraded the firmware. If you encounter problems, please ask here.

Important notice:

- The application requires the Java Runtime Environment 7u51 (or more recent) being installed.
- On Windows operating system, the ST-LINK/V2-1 board requires a dedicated USB driver to be installed.
- On Linux, the application relies on libusb-1.0, which must be installed separately: for instance on Ubuntu, this is done through the command "sudo apt-get install libusb-1.0".
- On Linux, users must be granted with rights for accessing the ST-LINK USB devices. To do that, it might be necessary to add rules into /etc/udev/rules.d: for instance on Ubuntu, this is done through the command "sudo cp 49-stlinkv2-1.rules /etc/udev/rules.d".

Applying a different firmware version than the one already installed on your camera can improve the device’s overall performance and stability, resolve various issues, add support for newly developed features, or recover the device’s functionality from a state you don’t enjoy.

This process isn’t intended to be destructive, but still, it’s best that you save all your personal data and configurations before applying a different firmware. Moreover, make sure that the battery is fully charged and don’t use the camera’s buttons while the installation is in progress.
