Ricoh Pentax K10D Digital Camera Firmware 1.31 Description

Fixes:

- Improved stability of recording image for some SDHC Memory card.

Installation steps:

1. Provide a formatted SD memory card for the update software (with at least 32MB of available memory space). The downloaded file is self-extracting. The following files are extracted: fwdc162b.bin
Copy the above Firmware file [fwdc162b.bin] to the root directory in the SD card. If your computer does not have a card slot, you can copy the firmware update file by inserting the SD card into your camera and then connecting the camera directly to your computer.
2. If the camera power is on, turn it off.
3. Insert the update SD card (prepared in step 1) into the camera.
4. Connect the AC adapter to the camera. If you are using a rechargeable battery, make sure that it is fully charged, and if you are using batteries that are not rechargeable, make sure that they are fresh batteries.
5. Turn the camera power on while pressing the MENU button.
6. "NOW LOADING" appears in the LCD monitor, and will change to the "PROGRAM UPDATE". At the bottom of the LCD monitor, CURRENT VERSION 1.00 / 1.10 / 1.11 / 1.20 / 1.30 UPDATE VERSION 1.31 will be displayed.
7. Press the four-way controller to select "YES" and press the "OK" button.
8. "UPDATING" appears on the LCD monitor and updating starts. Please do not under any circumstances switch off the power before the update is completed. It will take approximately 150 seconds to complete update.
9. When update is completed, the "COMPLETE" will be displayed at the left bottom of the LCD monitor, then turn the camera off.
10. Remove the update SD card from the camera.
11. To check the Firmware version in your camera, turn the camera on while pressing the MENU button. Check that the version displayed in the LCD monitor is 1.01. The camera automatically starts up after about 5 seconds.

Caution:

- When updating is finished, the update SD card still contains the Firmware file. If you want to use this card to take pictures, delete the Firmware file first.

About Digital Camera Firmware:

Updating to a newer firmware version than the one already installed on your camera can improve the device’s overall performance and stability, resolve various issues, and add support for newly developed features or enhance existing ones.

On the other hand, downgrading the camera’s firmware can recover its functionality in the unlikely event the currently installed version is faulty or the device’s performance dropped after an upgrade. However, bear in mind that applying an earlier build might not always be possible.

It is recommended that changing the camera’s firmware be performed when the new release resolves an issue that your device has been encountering, or adds a new feature (or enhances an existing one) that could prove useful for you.

This process isn’t intended to be destructive, but still, it’s best to save all your personal data and configurations before applying a different firmware. Moreover, make sure that the battery is fully charged and don’t use the camera’s buttons while the installation is in progress.

When it comes to the update method, usually, you must copy the firmware file onto a compatible memory card, insert it into the camera, and browse from the menu to the device’s update section.

However, each device has various ways to enter the update mode and particular steps that should be taken for a successful upgrade, therefore make sure you read the product’s installation guide.

That being said, if you consider that this firmware improves your device in any way, then hit the download button and get the desired version; if not, check with our website as often as possible so that you don’t miss the update that will boost your camera’s performance.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
