Buffalo TS3210DN NAS Firmware 4.00 for macOS Description

Added and Modified Features

- [Settings] Modified the design of the Settings interface. “Dashboard” is now available under your device status options.
- [Logs] Modified so that file access logs can now be saved to the desired duration. The file access logs will contain the file access via SMB, FTP and WebAccess connections and login/logout history to Settings.
- [SMB] Modified to be able to configure the lower limit for the SMB protocol version.
- [SNMP] MIB objects have been added to show the date when the error or information events occurred based on the configured time zone on the MIB browser.
- [SNMP] MIB objects have been added to use the same unit that the TeraStation’s Settings uses for total and used capacities of drives and LVM volumes on the MIB browser.
- [RAID] Modified that the confirmation screen will appear if a drive that is used for the RAID array could not be mounted during bootup. If a RAID 10 array is configured, all affected drives may not be displayed on the confirmation screen. In such a case, check the affected drives for which an E16 message appears on the LCD panel or NAS Navigator2, shut down the TeraStation, check if all drives are inserted properly, and then power on the TeraStation in drive setup mode.
- [Settings] Improved the operability for selecting users on the user list.
- [Logs] Modified the export format for the file access logs.
- [Logs] Modified to be able to delete the file access logs.

Bug Fixes:

- [System] Fixed a bug where some words could not be used for usernames and group names. Refer to the user manual for the available usernames and group names.
- [System] Fixed a bug where NAS Navigator2 could not use the time settings on the computer for the TeraStation.
- [System] Fixed a bug where the power LED kept blinking and the bootup process did not complete.
- [Dropbox Sync] Fixed a bug where the folder list could not be updated if Dropbox contains 40 or more folders.
- [Email Notifications] Fixed a bug where the layout on the daily report email became corrupted.
- [WebAccess] Fixed a bug where some files’ attributes could not be displayed properly from WebAccess.
- [Cloud Storage] Fixed a bug where upload speed may have become slower if Amazon S3 was used for Cloud Storage.
- [Drives] Fixed a bug where the drive status could not be displayed properly if a drive error occurred.
- [Backup] Fixed a bug where the data was backed up completely even if the management backup was configured.
- [SMB] Modified to deal with a Samba programming vulnerability (CVE-2017-14746, CVE-2017-15275).

Caution:

- Please consult your local technical support representative if you experience any problems caused by this firmware update.
- Do not turn the unit off until the update is finished. It will take several minutes. You will receive a message when the update is finished.
- USB drives are not mounted automatically after a firmware update. To mount them, unplug and then reconnect them.

How to Use the Updater:

1. Connect the TeraStation properly and configure the TeraStation and a computer to run the updater on the same network subnet. The subnet masks should be the same and the first three numbers of the IP addresses should be the same. The last number of the IP addresses should be different.
For example, if the IP address and subnet mask of the computer are
" 192.168.0.10 , 255.255.255.0 "
and the IP address and subnet mask of the TeraStation are
" 192.168.1.150 , 255.255.255.0 "
then the updater will _not_ work properly.
In this case, reconfigure the TeraStation's IP address and subnet mask to
" 192.168.0.150 , 255.255.255.0 ".
Then they will be on the same subnet and the updater will work properly.
2. Close all applications. Also, stop or exit any firewall software.
3. Extract the downloaded file and run "TSUpdater.exe". When a TeraStation is detected, an update window will open.
4. Select the TeraStation to update if multiple TeraStation are connected.
5. Click "Update" and enter the TeraStation's admin password.
6. Click "OK".
7. Transferring and updating the firmware will start. Wait until it finishes. The info LED will blink during the update.
8. When the update finishes, a message will be displayed.

About Network-Attached Storage Updates:

Upgrading the Network-Attached Storage (NAS) firmware can improve the system's overall performance, stability, and security by adding various fixes for related issues, enhancing existing features (or adding support for new ones), or updating different applications.

Due to the high number of NAS manufacturers, as well as network storage types, installing a new firmware might not be always as easy as it appears – and not too safe either. Failing to perform a software update can cause serious malfunctions to the network storage.

So, before you even consider applying this release, carefully read the installation guide and initiate the process only when you have understood and completely familiarized yourself with all the steps.

Moreover, it would be best if you take into account using a UPS unit (Uninterruptible Power Supply) to perform this task, because no power disruption should affect the upgrade.

With all these aspects in mind, after you have read the installation guide, click the download button to apply this firmware version to your NAS. Remember to check back with our website in order to stay up to speed with the latest releases.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
