WD My Cloud EX4 Personal Cloud Storage Firmware 2.11.133 Description

What's new:

- Resolved issue of unable to connect to device while syncing/uploading files from multiple clients
- Resolved issue of unable to access dashboard
- Resolved issue of media crawler crash during resizing certain 1024x1024 images
- Resolved issue of incorrect credential message when opening dashboard after onboarding from mycloud.com
- Resolved issue of iSCSI iSNS client being OFF by default after a power outage and back online
- Resolved issue of misleading Power Supply “Failure” alert text on the WebUI
- Improved analytics logging support

Manually Updating the firmware on your NAS:

- Important: Make sure you stop all processes and save all your data before performing the firmware update.
- Note: My Cloud devices require a hard drive inserted into the bay and a volume must be created to perform the firmware update.
- Do not interrupt the firmware upgrade process. Doing so may cause the device to malfunction or unable to boot. 
- If you are using the manual update method, do not rename the firmware file. Doing so will cause the manual update to fail and can corrupt the system.

Updating the firmware on your NAS:

- Download the firmware to your desktop.
- Unzip the file and you will find the actual firmware.
- Save this to your desktop.
- Open the My Cloud Dashboard UI.
- Go to Settings >> Firmware Update.
- Under the section Manual Update, click the Update From File button and a window will open.
- Browse to where you saved the unzipped file and select it.
- You will see a pop up confirming to upgrade your firmware, click Ok.

About HDD Firmware:

Updating the HDD’s (Hard Disk Drive) firmware version can fix various problems that might occur, enhance some of the features available or add support for new ones, and improve the unit’s overall performance.

However, as this task can be very risky, applying a different firmware is recommended only when the newer version specifically resolves an issue that bothers you, or brings about changes that you can make full use of.

In addition to that, make sure you perform this task only in a steady power environment (such as the one ensured by a UPS unit).

As for the update process, due to the wide variety of HDDs and various methods provided by each manufacturer for installing a new firmware, it would be best if you carefully read and understand the installation steps.
