- During firmware update the OLED display may go black. To correct, connect a video signal to SDI A IN.
- When playing back short 50/60p files if “Skip Frames” is not set, static audio can occur. Recorded files are unaffected.
- In rare cases when switching frame rates on the FS700, a false camera trigger may occur, resulting in a 1 second file.
- When recording Sony FS 4K RAW-> 4K/UHD Apple ProRes at 50/59.94p, using Pixel Zoom will shift the image on OLED. Recorded files are unaffected.
- Canon RAW playback may be jumpy. To correct, select a point within the clip and press PLAY. If this does not correct issue, deselect clip then reselect.
- In Apollo mode, when using LTC In timecode source, cameras must be genlocked to prevent timecode drift.
- In Apollo mode, when using Pixel Zoom, on-screen camera angle labels may not be correctly aligned.

To update firmware on an Odyssey or Apollo device, a Convergent Design SSD or a qualified 3rd party SSD must be used. Note that previously recorded files will not be playable on the unit once updated, so all files on the SSD and any other SSDs must be downloaded before updating.
Steps to follow:
- ERASE & FORMAT the SSD on an Odyssey or Apollo.
- Mount this SSD to a computer using an SSD adapter/reader to USB-3 or Thunderbolt.
- Download the Firmware Update to a folder on the computer. Do not download directly to the SSD. Convergent Design recommends a copy of the firmware update be maintained on the computer for possible future use.
- On a Windows computer, unzip the download. Open the unzipped folder.
- On a Mac, the download will automatically unzip. Open the folder.
- Within the download folder, copy the }Odyssey_Update{ folder from your computer to the root director of the SSD. This may also be shown as a }CD_Update{ folder.
- Copy to the root directory; do NOT copy it into the }Clips{________Odyssey folder.
- Copy the complete }CD_Update{ folder; do NOT copy individual files within the folder.
- Copy only the }CD_Update{ folder, do NOT copy the entire contents of the folder download.
- Note that the download’s other content includes useful software, instructions and manuals.
- Dismount the SSD from the computer and insert into Odyssey or Apollo.
- Power on Odyssey or Apollo.
- A notice will appear recommending the use of AC power as the firmware update can take up to 45 minutes to complete. There are CANCEL and OK buttons at the bottom of the OLED screen, but the update will proceed automatically after 30 seconds.
- During update a progress bar indicates how the update is proceeding, but in some cases the OLED screen will go black. If this should happen, the update is still in progress so the device should be allowed to continue for one hour, then power cycled. Plugging a signal into SDI A IN will sometimes correct this issue.
- When the progress bar reaches 100%, remove the SSD from the unit and power down.
- Power on the unit. When it completes booting, insert the same SSD.
- The Firmware Update notice will appear again. Press CANCEL.
- ERASE & FORMAT the SSD.
Applying a new firmware package on your Video Recorder adapter should improve overall performance and stability, fix various issues encountered with the device, or add support for newly developed features.
The Video Recorder adapter should be carefully upgraded by a power user (that is to say, someone who has the know-how to successfully complete the process), but it can also be performed by an average user at his or her own risk.
Either way, given the fact that each producer has their own method for installing a new firmware, and that every device has a particular way to enter the update mode, you must not consider upgrading the adapter’s software until you have read and thoroughly understood the installation steps.
As a rule, said steps shouldn’t pose too much of a challenge because manufacturers strive to make them as easy as possible. As with everything else, exceptions do occur, and users should be prepared for them.
Usually, you should transfer the compatible firmware to the Recorder through a USB cable or a memory card, and afterwards enter update mode from the unit’s setup menu or through a specific power-on method.
With this in mind, if you intend to apply this release, make sure the package is compatible with your Video Recorder and that it brings about the changes you want or require; hit the download button and apply the new firmware.
Don’t forget to regularly check with our website so that you don’t miss any updates.
It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
