Peplink Balance 710 HW3 Router Firmware 6.3.0 Description

Important Notices For Upgrades From Firmware 6.2.0 or Below:

- Internal Network Firewall Rules Will Need to Be Reconfigured: To increase protection for traffic running between internal networks, Firmware 6.2.2 introduces the new “Internal Network Firewall Rules” table. If you have previously added firewall rules with both the source and destination pointing to internal networks, please reenter the rules under the new “Internal Network Firewall Rules” table.
- AP Controller: If you are using the Balance / MAX integrated AP Controller to manage your APs, please upgrade your APs to the latest Firmware before upgrading your Balance / MAX to Firmware 6.3.0

Please note that the following models will be retired and will not be supported by Firmware 6.3 onwards:

Routing:
- For Cellular WAN connections, the MTU setting affects received packets, as well as sent packets.

- The Balance 2500 is missing the WAN as LAN function.

Captive Portal Quota Reset:
- Captive portal clients are unable to reset their usage quotas after using it up.

Captive Portal Bandwidth Quota:
- Clients are able to continue using Internet access up to 90 seconds after reaching their bandwidth quotas.
- Compatible with All Balance / MediaFast / MAX models

SpeedFusion:
- In a SpeedFusion Tunnel, when one device only supports Cold Failover, Cold Failover Links are inaccurately reported as "Not available - link failure detected".

Known Issues

PepVPN:
- PepVPN chart inaccurately shows severe packet loss if encryption is enabled.

Captive Portal:
- The Captive Portal will not redirect if the DNS proxy has been disabled.
- Affected All Balance / MediaFast models

PepVPN:
- When using iTunes or Remote to Airplay to an AppleTV over PepVPN, Bonjour Forwarding does not function.

L2TP with IPSec:
- If multiple Windows clients are set up behind the same NAT router, they may not be able to establish L2TP/IPsec connections concurrently.

- SpeedFusion WAN Smoothing does not function as well if QoS is enabled.

About Router Firmware:

Before you consider downloading this firmware, go to the system information page of the router and make sure that the currently installed version isn’t either newer or matching this release.

Due to the large variety of router models and different methods for upgrading the device, it is highly recommended that you read and, above all, understand the installation steps before you apply the new firmware, even if you are a power user.
