Canon EF-M15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM Lens Firmware 2.0.0 Description

Changes:

- Support for Combination IS when the lens is mounted to the EOS M5, which coordinates optical IS and in-camera digital IS for improved stabilization effects in movies.
- Support for the new scene mode "panning" which reduces subject blurring when the lens is mounted to the EOS M5.

Precautions:

- A power failure during the firmware writing operation may disable the camera.
- Use a fully charged Battery Pack or dedicated AC Adapter Kit (Optional) for the firmware update.
- Do not shut off the power during the firmware writing operation.
- Do not open the card slot cover during the firmware writing operation.
- Do not press any camera buttons during the firmware writing operation.
- Do not detach the lens during the firmware update.
- The firmware of the lens cannot be updated using EOS Utility.

Firmware Update Procedure:

- Download the zipped self-extracting file.
- Insert a SD card that has been formatted in the Camera into the card reader.
- Copy the firmware update file to the first window that appears when the SD card is opened (the root directory).
- If the firmware update file is placed in subfolder of the SD card, the camera will not see it.
- Remove the SD card from the card reader.
- When removing the SD card, be sure to do so as described in the documentation for the computer or the card reader.
- Attach the lens for the firmware update to the camera.
- Insert the SD card with the firmware into the camera.
- Turn the Power Switch <ON>, and then set the shooting mode to <P/TV/AV/M/C/Movie mode>.
- Press the <MENU> button to display the menu.
- Use the Control Dial or the Up/Down/Right/Left buttons to select the "firmware ver.: X.X.X", and then press the [SET] button.
- The firmware versions for both the camera and the lens are displayed.
- Select the “Lens Ver.X.X.X” item, and then press the <SET> button.
- Select [OK], and then press the <SET> button.
- If you press the <SET> button, a confirmation screen will appear, so check the firmware update shown, rotate the Quick Control Dial to select [OK], and press the <SET> button again to start the firmware update.
- After a short while, the firmware will be overwritten with the new version. (The update takes approximately 1 minute and a half.) During the firmware update, the lamp on the back of the camera will blink. During this time, please do not turn off the camera or operate any of its controls. Doing so could cause camera malfunctions.
- After the update is completed, the lamp on the back of the camera will stop blinking.
- The firmware update is now completed.
- When the firmware update operations are finished, turn the camera <OFF> and remove battery from the camera for at least two seconds. This will cause the new firmware to take effect after the battery has been reloaded and the camera is turned on.
- Format the SD card before using it again.

Verifying the firmware Version:

- Attach the lens to the camera.
- Turn the Power Switch <ON>, and press the <MENU> button.
- Use the Control Dial or the Up/Down/Right/Left buttons to select the "Firmware Ver.X.X.X".
- Press the <SET> button to display the lens firmware version.

About Lens Updates:

Upgrading or downgrading your lens to a different firmware version might enhance the unit’s overall performance and stability, and could also improve some of the lenses’ features (a good example would be faster autofocus speed).

In order to apply a firmware properly, other than the one already installed, you should check that the lenses are connected to the camera body, copy the compatible update on a memory card, and insert it into the camera.

From the device’s menu, browse to the Firmware Upgrade section, and enable the new firmware. Since each device has various ways to enter the update mode and particular steps that should be taken for a successful upgrade, you must make sure that you read the product’s installation guide.

Therefore, if you consider installing this present release, click on the download button to get the firmware, and apply it. Moreover, don’t forget to check our website constantly so that you don’t miss any of the future versions.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
