Jeti DC-14 RC Transmitter Firmware 4.20 Description

New Features:

- Experimental and limited support for Lua apps. See the Lua Programming API for possibilities and limitations.
- Added option for smoothed function curves (see Fine Tuning – Function Curves, Fine Tuning – Free Mixes, Fine Tuning – Butterfly).
- Added option for proportional and smooth Dual Rate/Exponential transition. See the Fine Tuning – Dual Rate/Exponential menu and check the “Prop.” option. If you assign any proportional control as a DR switch, you will be able to set the DR/Expo values more precisely.
- The digital trims (Fine Tuning –Digital Trims) can now work in two additional independent modes: 3-Position momentary switch emulation and Rotary function.
- Latest EX Bus device definitions including support for SBEC30D, MFlow2, Brain FBL, 3Digi, Vortex, Spirit.
- Added new USB mode (experimental audio). Joystick descriptors have been rewritten and are now compatible with most of RC simulators.
- If you want to turn off the radio with the model turned on, a warning is displayed.
- After creating a new model, you can immediately bind the receiver after confirming the question “Do you want to bind the model?”
- An additional configurable system sound has been added, its meaning represents “receiver reboot” condition.

Modifications:

- Fixed preflight-positions-check dialog.
- If the 24-channels mode is active, all channels are transmitted immediately.
- Voice files are now included in the Spanish language.
- If the model is loaded, the telemetry page shown is reset to the first one.
- Now the transmitter supports up to 500 files in the Audio folder (previously max. 200).
- The “Sym.” button in the items of Fine Tuning menu now remembers its state even if you exit the menu.

Important Notes:

- ALWAYS backup your models and settings before performing any update. After each update you should verify the settings and surface throws of a model before your first flight. Make sure that all of the controls are correctly calibrated.
- Attention: In case you use a reversed servo throw for the throttle channel, please make sure that the digital throttle idle trim works correctly. In case it does not, please go to: Fine Tuning → Digital trim and set the trim mode to throttle low as it should be by default.
- Warning: After updating to version 4.20 it is no longer possible to downgrade to an older firmware version than 3.02. Downgrade to 3.02 version is however still possible.

Update procedure for version 4.20:

- Connect TX via USB to PC.
- In the TX confirm communication with PC.
- Download the appropriate update file (contains all system audio files and configuration). Unzip its contents into a temporary folder at your hard drive.
- Copy all files from the temporary folder to the root (top) folder of the transmitter SD card. When asked, confirm replacement of existing files.
- Switch off and switch on the TX. After that, the update will run.

About Firmware Updates:

Applying a newer firmware version than the one already installed on your unit can bring various enhancements, include workarounds for diverse problems encountered by the device, and improve or add newly developed features. 

On the other hand, downgrading the firmware version can recover the device’s functionality in the event of a software update either turning up faulty or causing the unit’s overall performance to drop. However, bear in mind that applying an older firmware isn’t recommended and might not always be possible.

When it comes to the update steps, due to the large variety of devices and numerous ways for installing a new firmware, it is recommended that you carefully read and understand the upgrade steps, and consider applying a different firmware only when you have familiarized yourself with the update method.

As the installation process is most of the times quite risky, this step should be taken by users that have the ability to successfully complete the update; regular users may initiate it at their own risk. Moreover, it’s best that this task be performed in a steady power environment such as the one ensured by a UPS unit.
