Select your LinkStation from the NAS Navigator2 window. The firmware version is displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen. If the name is in the form LS--EM, the LinkStation is in EM mode.
- [SMB]: Modified to deal with a Samba programming vulnerability (CVE-2017-7494).
1. Connect the LinkStation properly and configure the LinkStation and a computer to run the updater on the same network subnet. The subnet masks should be the same and the first three numbers of the IP addresses should be the same. The last number of the IP addresses should be different.
For example, if the IP address and subnet mask of the computer are
" 192.168.0.10 , 255.255.255.0 "
and the IP address and subnet mask of the LinkStation are
" 192.168.1.150 , 255.255.255.0 "
then the updater will _not_ work properly.
In this case, reconfigure the LinkStation's IP address and subnet mask to
" 192.168.0.150 , 255.255.255.0 ".
Then they will be on the same subnet and the updater will work properly.
2. Close all applications. Also, stop or exit any firewall software.
3. Extract the downloaded file and run "LSUpdater.exe". When a LinkStation is detected, an update window will open.
4. Select the LinkStation to update if multiple LinkStation are connected.
5. Click "Update" and enter the LinkStation's admin password.
6. Click "OK".
7. Transferring and updating the firmware will start. Wait until it finishes. The info LED will blink during the update.
8. When the update is complete, a message will be displayed.
Applying a new firmware package on your Network Video Recorder (NVR) should improve overall performance and stability, fix various issues encountered with the device, or add support for newly developed features.
The NVR should be carefully upgraded by a power user (that is to say, someone who has the know-how to successfully complete the process), but it can also be performed by an average user at his or her own risk.
Either way, given the fact that each producer has their own method for installing a new firmware, and that every device has a particular way to enter the update mode, you must not consider upgrading the software until you have read and thoroughly understood the installation steps.
As a rule, said steps shouldn't pose too much of a challenge because manufacturers strive to make them as easy as possible. As with everything else, exceptions do occur, and users should be prepared for them.
Usually, you should transfer the compatible firmware to the Recorder through a USB cable or a memory card, and afterwards enter update mode from the unit's setup menu or through a specific power-on method.
With this in mind, if you intend to apply this release, make sure the package is compatible with your Network Video Recorder and that it brings about the changes you want or require; hit the download button and apply the new firmware.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
