- Implement Disk Drive User Experience on the Monitor page
- Update the Compatible Drive link to Knowledge Article 9443 for list of all “Preferred” drives

- Download the Software Update to a desire location on the PC.
- Obtain a USB Drive (2GB or larger) and insert it into a USB port on the PC.
- Copy the sentinel_firmware_2_2_10_18.zip file on to the root directory of the USB Drive
- Safely eject the USB Drive from the PC and insert it into one of the USB 3.0 port in the rear of the WD Sentinel Storage Server
- Login to the WD Sentinel DS5100/DS6100 Ultra-compact Storage Plus Server with an administrator credential and open the Dashboard.
- Select Monitor and select Software Update.
- Under Check for Updates, select the Update from file button.
- A Software Update message will appear with a request to shutdown the Dashboard and reboot the server.
- Click Proceed to continue and Windows Explorer will open.
- Select the USB Drive previously inserted to the WD Sentinel DS5100/DS6100 Ultracompact Storage Plus Server
- Select the Software Update file (sentinel_firmware_2_2_10_18.zip) then click Open
- The update process will begin and the progress is visible on the LCD screen. The update can take between 6 to 10 minutes to complete and the server will reboot several times.
- Upon completion of the update, the LCD will return with a message SOFTWARE UPDATE COMPLETE. To clear this message from the LCD, go to the Alert Viewer and select Ignore the alert or Delete the alert. The server is ready for use.
It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
