PocketWizard Utility 1.70 Beta / ControlTL (FlexTT5/Nikon) Firmware 3.900 for Mac OS Description

IMPORTANT:

- This firmware upgrade requires the PocketWizard Utility. Upgrade to the latest Utility first, then upgrade your radios’ firmware. When updating firmware, be sure to update all of your radios to the latest version. Your radios will only operate as expected when all units are using the latest firmware.
- Previously used settings or saved profiles may not be automatically reloaded after installing new firmware. Make sure to record any important settings before upgrading.
- Factory Reset: After updating your firmware, always perform a “hard” factory reset with the radio: Hold TEST before you power on your radio and continue to hold TEST for 15 seconds until you see 4 green blinks. While the PocketWizard Utility performs a “soft” factory reset automatically, and has a Factory Reset button on the Update tab, the Reset B or ”hard” reset is the recommended method.

The following Nikon gear is now fully supported in this firmware release:

- Nikon D5
- Nikon D500
- Nikon D7200
- Nikon D5500
- Nikon SB-5000

This gear will work in the ControlTL system with normal operational considerations. D7200/D5500 Operational Consideration: Rear curtain sync mode with these cameras only works with remote flash, not with on-camera flash.

Other Improvements:

- Nikon FlexTT5 radios can now have Custom IDs installed!
- Added SB-5000 MASTER Mode operation
- Fixed a minor issue regarding the Sekonic RT32-CTL module. You can now use the meter to trigger a remote Speedlight on a FlexTT5 without first having to trigger the remote from a camera
- Addressed D5/D500 beta firmware issues around VR Mode, as well as rapid triggering
- Improved D750 HyperSync and AutoFP/High Speed Sync (HSS) performance

About Camera Adapter Updates:

Updating to a different firmware version than the one already installed on the adapter can bring various changes such as improved performance and stability, add new features or enhance existing ones, but also various fixes for more or less recurrent issues.

Given the large variety of camera adapters and numerous methods for upgrading the device, it is highly recommended that you read and, above all, understand the installation steps before you consider applying the new firmware, even if you are a power user.

If you try to perform the update without knowing all the steps, you risk ending up with a broken device. However, what every upgrade needs is a compatible firmware to be transferred to the adapter (or to the camera) via either a USB cable or a suitable memory card.
