Buffalo TeraStation TS-2RZS NAS Firmware 2.61 for Mac OS Description

Added and Modified Features:

- [Failover] Improved the security level.
- [Replication] Modified to use a backup device access key for a replication task. This access key is the same as the backup key that has already been used.

Bug Fixes:

- [SMB] Modified to deal with a Samba programming vulnerability (CVE-2017-7494).
- [Backup] The backup target folder for a backup job where a different TeraStation is the backup source has been changed to "backup target folder"/"date"/"backup source folder".
- [Backup] Fixed a bug where Settings could not be accessed.
- [RAID] Fixed a bug where a drive could not be added to RAID 6 array using RMM.
- [Failover] Fixed a bug where newly-created folders or files saved on the main TeraStation could not be copied to the backup TeraStation and the backup unit did not replace the main unit properly.
- [Failover] Fixed a bug where failover could not be canceled temporarily if the online update notice is present.
- [Replication] When configuring replication, the LAN port numbers (LAN 1 or LAN 2) of the source and target TeraStations are now shown.
- [Replication] Fixed a bug where replication uses LAN port 1 instead of LAN port 2 even if the replication task is configured to use LAN port 2 on the TeraStation running version 2.60 or later.
- [Replication] Fixed a bug where after the firmware updates to version 2.60 or later, replication will use LAN port 1 if:
- [Replication] Replication is configured on a TeraStation with firmware version 2.50 or earlier.
- [Replication] Replication uses both LAN ports 1 and 2 (LAN port 2 was priorly used for replication on the TeraStation running version 2.50 or earlier).

- [SNMP] Modified to support the following settings that can be acquired via SNMP protocol: Model name, Firmware version, Serial number, Checking whether new firmware is available, Showing whether the function status is enabled or disabled, S.M.A.R.T. for each drive. Update the MIB file on your SNMP client software to the latest version. You can download the MIB file from the Buffalo website.
- [Email Notifications] Modified so that the report categories and when the email will be sent are now configurable. The current settings will be taken over by the firmware update but we recommend verifying if the function works properly after the firmware update.
- [Email Notifications] S.M.A.R.T information is now available to be sent via the notification email. It can be configured from "Advanced Report Settings".
- [Microsoft Network] Fixed a bug where access restriction settings were disabled when restarting the TeraStation after configuring domain user access restrictions to the shared folders. If this occurs, the settings will not be restored even if the firmware update is applied. In such a case, configure the access restrictions again after the firmware update.
- [Microsoft Network] Fixed a bug where domain users could not access shared folders if the group that these domain users joined is configured for access restrictions.
- [UPS] Changed to have E10 error display when the connection between the TeraStation and the UPS could not be established.
- [UPS] Fixed a bug where the E10 error occurred when a specific settings were made without connecting the UPS to the TeraStation.
- [Email Notifications] Fixed a bug where some notification emails were detected as spam by a mail server. As a countermeasure for this bug, the "Sender Address" box is added on the email notification settings page of Settings. This box will be blank after updating to this firmware version so configure the sender address to use email notification properly.
- [Email Notifications] Fixed a bug where blank emails was sent.
- [Sleep Timer] Fixed a bug where the shutdown configured via the timer schedule did not work properly.
- [Quotas] Fixed a bug where up to 2047 GB were allotted as the quota size.
- [NFS] Fixed a bug where the shared folder selection window was not displayed properly when adding NFS rule if multiple shared folder with NFS enabled were created.
- [FTP] Fixed a bug where the TeraStation could not be accessed via FTP after configuring access restrictions with a group that includes a specific number of members then restarted.
- [Services] Modified to deal with mt-daapd programming vulnerabilities (CVE-2007-5825).
- [Services] Fixed a bug where a music file saved on the folder that contains a space in its folder name was not detected if the folder was used as a iTunes public folder.
- [WebAccess] Fixed a bug where WebAccess did not work properly if the WebAccess settings were configured to use UPnP.
- [Samba] Modified to deal with Samba programming vulnerabilities, including Badlock vulnerability (CVE-2016-2112, CVE-2016-2115, CVE-2016-2118, CVE-2016-2110, CVE-2016-2111, CVE-2015-5370, CVE-2016-2113, CVE-2016-2114, CVE-2015-5252, CVE-2015-5296, CVE-2015-5299, and CVE-2015-7560).
- [Samba] Fixed a bug where the access-restricted folder reserved for admin users cannot be accessed after initializing settings.
- [System] Fixed a bug where the "Size on disk" of files on the TeraStation was displayed larger than the actual size on Windows 8.1 or later.
- [Settings] Fixed a bug where Settings could not be accessed.
- [Settings] Fixed a bug where the CPU became overloaded when a test email was sent using the wrong settings.
- [ImageMagick] Modified to deal with an ImageMagick filtering vulnerability (CVE-2016-3714).
- [OpenSSH] Modified to deal with OpenSSH programming vulnerabilities (CVE-2015-5600).
- [OpenSSL] - Modified to deal with OpenSSL programming vulnerabilities (CVE-2016-2176, CVE-2016-2109, CVE-2016-2108, CVE-2016-2107, CVE-2016-2106, and CVE-2016-2105).

Caution:

- Please consult your local technical support representative if you experience any problems caused by this firmware update.
- Do not turn the unit off until the update is finished. It will take several minutes. You will receive a message when the update is finished.
- USB drives are not mounted automatically after a firmware update. To mount them, unplug and then reconnect them.

How to Use the Updater:

1. Connect the TeraStation properly and configure the TeraStation and a computer to run the updater on the same network subnet. The subnet masks should be the same and the first three numbers of the IP addresses should be the same. The last number of the IP addresses should be different.
For example, if the IP address and subnet mask of the computer are
" 192.168.0.10 , 255.255.255.0 "
and the IP address and subnet mask of the TeraStation are
" 192.168.1.150 , 255.255.255.0 "
then the updater will _not_ work properly.
In this case, reconfigure the TeraStation's IP address and subnet mask to
" 192.168.0.150 , 255.255.255.0 ".
Then they will be on the same subnet and the updater will work properly.
2. Close all applications. Also, stop or exit any firewall software.
3. Extract the downloaded file and run "TSUpdater.exe". When a TeraStation is detected, an update window will open.
4. Select the TeraStation to update if multiple TeraStation are connected.
5. Click "Update" and enter the TeraStation's admin password.
6. Click "OK".
7. Transferring and updating the firmware will start. Wait until it finishes. The info LED will blink during the update.
8. When the update finishes, a message will be displayed.
