Resolved Issues

- Support for Intel Optane Memory
- Block installation of driver on unsupported platforms.
- Observed BSOD during S3 cycling: DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION on SmartTimer
- Optane UI allows enabling OptaneVolume with other NVMe SSD’s.
- Enabling Optane in Safe Mode does not start service and minifilter.
- OptaneVolume creation process does not resume after a dirty shutdown.
- ODD missing after offline ejection during dash process
- One touch Optane installation makes the system boot to EDK shell instead of OS
- Power consumption is high in Modern Standby mode with NVMe device attached
- Platform hangs on Post Code 1414 when entering S4 for NVME
- Inaccurate error message in Optane UI after power loss during separation
- Optane UI shows 'your system is not intel optane memory ready' after disabling Optane disk
- Optane UI keep filling log with accessException
- Install RST 15.5 on SKL+KBL PCH + SB can see Optane Memory function for enabling. After enable Optane Memory and reboot system, will meet Boot Device Not Found" error.
- [RCfgSata] Incorrect Optane Memory volume state during separation
- Preserving user data failed when creation of NGSA was interrupted by hard reset and deconcatenation performed in PreOS

Notes:

1. Known Issue is defined as a potential RST issue that has been replicated internally by the Rapid Storage Technology team but has not been root caused to be an RST defect.
2. The RAID OROM & UEFI version for this release is 15.5.0.2875, the driver and user interface version is 15.5.0.1051. For RAID configurations, it is recommended that both the pre-OS and RST OS driver components are updated. Please contact your CE for further details.
3. There is a new component in Intel Rapid Storage Technology package called Optane.zip which includes SetupOptane Memory.exe. Please refer to OEM Technical Guide Section 6.2.2.2 for more details.
4. This driver release can be used on KBL platform with RS2 OS and also on KBL-R platforms.
5. Starting from RST 15.5 PV, latest version of OEM Technical Guide will be available on CDI.

Known Issues:

- When enabling via UI system tray icon reads “Disabling Intel Optane memory” for step 1 and “Enabling Intel Optane memory” for step 2. Should read “Enabling Intel Optane memory” for both steps.
- Device manager is not displayed as Intel Optane + XXGB SSD
- Optane Memory AP/RST UI show error message when disk have two partition
- Disk Drive Model Changed after SRT Enabled
- Cannot enter Master SSD (port number is smaller) after reset Recovery disk (port number is bigger) to non-RAID and reboot.
- CPU exception happened when reconnect RAID controller when insert 2 NVMe with RAID mode enable
- Cannot enter into S3 or resume from S3 smoothly
- IRST fails to detect SMART failure on NVMe device
- MT_SF ATTO score of RAID0 volume below the Single Disk after enable Writeback on the RAID0
- File created in EFI shell with SRT enabled is gone after reboot
- OS does not run smoothly during about one minute after resume from s3.(F/R:100%)
- Skylake C236 RST RAID port 6 and port 7 can do RAID in RAID option ROM
- RAID1 system will hang, detaching one of HDDs configured RAID volume.
- [Optane Memory] CLI show "Free space" of volume equal to size of this volume
- SMART event for Optane Memory volume not handled
- RRT - disk was removed from RRT volume after clicked "Access recovery disk files"
- BSOD after SRT Cache Disk member unexpected removal
- [RcfgSata] Could not create Optane Volume with preserving existing OS
- After setting cache policy to off and setting mode write back, cache policy is on.
- RST performance lower than MSFT on PCIe-AHCI SSD
- TimeOut when upgrading firmware while OS disk is under pressure of HeavyIOs

About RST (Rapid Storage Technology):

Once Intel’s Rapid Storage Technology (RST) driver is applied, desktop and notebook systems will be able to manage the available storage (one or more drives) more easily.

And that’s not all you should expect: updating the RST version can also bring about improved storage performance, lower power consumption, faster boot times, quicker data reads, as well as several other changes.

As far as applying this release is concerned, simply make sure your system configuration is compatible with this package, run the available setup, and follow the on-screen instructions for a complete installation. In addition to that, don’t forget to perform a reboot to make sure that all changes take effect properly.

Even though other operating systems might be compatible as well, we do not recommend installing this package on platforms other than the specified ones.
