Updating the Flash Unit Firmware

- Run the saved package to extract the following file to a folder named “SB500Update”:
- Using a card slot or card reader, copy the .bin file to a memory card that has been formatted in the camera.
- Insert the memory card in the camera. If the camera allows you to select one slot as the primary slot and the other as the secondary slot, insert the card into the slot currently selected as the primary slot. Otherwise insert the card into Slot 1.
- Attach the SB-500 to the camera and turn on the camera and flash unit.
- Press the camera MENU button, select Firmware version > Update in the SETUP MENU, and follow the on-screen instructions to perform the firmware update.
- Once the update is complete, turn off the camera and flash unit and remove the memory card.
- Turn on the camera and flash unit and confirm that the firmware has been updated to the new version.

About Camera Adapter Updates:

Updating to a different firmware version than the one already installed on the adapter can bring various changes such as improved performance and stability, add new features or enhance existing ones, but also various fixes for more or less recurrent issues.

Given the large variety of camera adapters and numerous methods for upgrading the device, it is highly recommended that you read and, above all, understand the installation steps before you consider applying the new firmware, even if you are a power user.

If you try to perform the update without knowing all the steps, you risk ending up with a broken device. However, what every upgrade needs is a compatible firmware to be transferred to the adapter (or to the camera) via either a USB cable or a suitable memory card.

That being said, if you consider applying this release and have made sure you’re properly informed on the process of performing the upgrade successfully, hit the download button, and update your camera adapter.

Check with our website as often as possible in order to be up to date with the latest releases.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
