Important Notices:

For Firmware 7
- PepVPN Firmware Compatibility Change​: Devices running Firmware 7 will only form PepVPN connections with devices running Firmware 6.1 or later. Firmware 6.0 or earlier is deprecated.
- Firmware Downgrade is Unavailable for the BR1, BR1 ENT, BR1 Slim, and Transit: ​Please note that once Firmware 7 is installed on those, it will not be possible to downgrade to Firmware 6 or below. Dual-boot with older Firmware is still supported, but each Firmware slot will not accept earlier Firmware once it contains Firmware 7.
- After Partitioning a MediaFast Router, Running Previous Firmware will Completely Clear the Cache: ​Please note that once you create partitions on any MFA router, running 6.3.3 or below will cause the router to clear the entire cache.

For Firmware 6.3.3 or Before
- Firmware Downgrade is Unavailable for the HD4: ​Please note that once 6.3.3 is installed on the MAX HD4, it will not be possible to downgrade to Firmware 6.3.1 or below. - UI Change for OSPF & RIPv2 Route Advertisement​: We have updated the page for configuring OSPF & RIPv2 route advertisements. If you have previously customized OSPF & RIPv2 settings, please go in and review route advertisement settings after firmware upgrade.
- Upgrade APs to AP Firmware 3.5.2 or Later Before Upgrading Balance and MAX devices to 6.2.2 or above: ​When running Balance and MAX Firmware 6.2.2 or above, Peplink routers will be unable to upgrade APs running 3.5.0 or below using upgrade packs. If you are using a Peplink before router to manage APs running 3.5.0 or below, please upgrade APs to Firmware 3.5.2 or later upgrading your Peplink router.

Known Issues:

- [Event Log]​ After inputting a non-existent hostname in DDNS settings, the event log may show incorrect messages.
- [OSPF]​ OSPF area IDs appear as dotted quads (0.0.4.210) rather than decimal value (1234)
- [PepVPN]​ When using PepVPN in NAT mode, modifying the custom name in the client list page does not work.
- [PepVPN]​ When using PepVPN in NAT mode, NAT mode clients will have missing names.
- Affected All Balance / MediaFast / MAX models; Surf:​ SOHO

- [Optional WAN Ports]​ Enabling or disabling the optional WAN ports on the Balance One will cause that LAN port to be unresponsive.

- [MediaFast]​ When using the storage manager, performing a cache cleanup will show the error message “cache delete failed” even though the cache was successfully cleared.

- [WAN LED]​ The Wi-Fi WAN LED remains off regardless of Wi-Fi WAN status.

- [WAN Config]​ For the Balance 1300 HW2, the WAN connection is always set to 100Mbps full duplex.

Firmware Installation Procedure:

- Firmware upgrade functionality is located at System>Firmware.
- Download a firmware image compatible with your device model.
- Click Choose File to select the firmware file from the local computer.
- Click Manual Upgrade to send the firmware to the Peplink unit.
- It will then automatically initiate the firmware upgrade process.
- Please note that all Peplink devices can store two different firmware versions in two different partitions. A firmware upgrade will always replace the inactive partition. If you want to keep the inactive firmware, you can simply reboot your device with the inactive firmware and then perform the firmware upgrade.

Status LED Information during firmware upgrade:

- OFF – Firmware upgrade in progress (DO NOT disconnect power.)
- Red – Unit is rebooting
- Green – Firmware upgrade successfully completed

About Router Firmware:

Before you consider downloading this firmware, go to the system information page of the router and make sure that the currently installed version isn’t either newer or matching this release.

Due to the large variety of router models and different methods for upgrading the device, it is highly recommended that you read and, above all, understand the installation steps before you apply the new firmware, even if you are a power user.
