HP Compaq Business Desktop ME Firmware and Utilities 5.1.10.1175 Rev.A Description

This package contains utilities that can be used to update the Intel Management Engine (ME) Firmware on the supported desktop models with a 786G1 system BIOS.

NOTE

: The AMT 5.1 ME firmware image is only intended for HP Compaq dc7900 PC configurations. This SoftPaq does NOT include a system BIOS image. However, it is recommended that the system BIOS be updated to the latest version (1.08 or later) before upgrading the ME firmware. Once the ME firmware is updated to this new image, it CANNOT be re-flashed to an older ME AMT 5.0 firmware version.

Several methods for updating the ME firmware may be chosen. Included in this package are the following methods:

- The DOS utility updates the Intel ME firmware for the local machine in a DOS environment, and also verifies that the firmware has been updated.
- The Microsoft Windows utility updates the Intel ME firmware of the local machine in a Microsoft Windows environment, and also verifies that the firmware has been updated.

FIXES

- Resolves a potential vulnerability where someone could exploit boundary errors in the Intel Active Management Technology (Intel AMT) access function via remote access. Exposure would require the attacker to have Intel AMT administrative credentials to a provisioned system with web user interface (WEBUI) enabled.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Download the file by clicking the "Download" or "Obtain Software" button and saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the downloaded file is saved).

2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

  It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
