2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. Note the location where the SoftPaq contents are extracted (the default is C:SWSETUPSP44127).
UPDATING THE DRIVER:
To update the driver, complete the following steps:
1. Open the Device Manager (click Start, Settings, Control Panel, then select System, then click the Hardware tab, and then click the Device Manager button).
2. Click the PLUS sign (+) for the "SCSI and RAID controllers" entry.
3. You can select the NVIDIA nForce RAID Controller and update the driver for this device. It will also update the driver for all of the NVIDIA nForce SATA Controllers in the SCSI and RAID section to the new driver 10.3.0.46.
4. Open the Device Properties (click the Action menu, and then select Properties).
5. Click the Drivers tab, and make a note of the driver version 5.10.2600.xxxx (xxxx is the latest version number). This will be used to check if the controller has been updated in a later step. The version of the driver being updated is 10.3.0.46. Click the Update Driver button; browse the location of the extracted SoftPaq files.
6. If you are prompted to restart (reboot), select No until all of the NVIDIA nForce 590/570/550 SATA Controllers have been updated to the latest driver version 10.3.0.46 (note the driver version captured in the previous step should have a different value).
7. Repeat steps 3 through 6 to update the driver for all of the NVIDIA nForce 590/570/550 SATA Controllers. When all of the controllers have been updated to 10.3.0.46, restart (reboot) the system.
: After the installation is complete, the downloaded directory can be deleted if desired.
It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
