Known Issues and Solutions After installing Intel Desktop Control Center 4.2.0, if you encounter issues that are not documented below, please send an email to [email protected] and attach the following file: C:PROGRAM FILESINTELINTEL(R) DESKTOP CONTROL CENTERLOGSIDCC.LOG (for 32-bit OS) C:PROGRAM FILES(x86)INTELINTEL(R) DESKTOP CONTROL CENTERLOGSIDCC.LOG (for 64-bit OS) and include a screen shot of the error message. Please also include your BIOS version, OS version (Windows XP or Windows Vista; 32- or 64-bit), and OS language.
Known Issues List:
- ISSUE: Logging off and then re-logging on to Windows XP based system will cause the Intel Desktop Control Center to display a fatal error message during launch. This does not occur with systems using Windows Vista. STATUS: This issue is under investigation. WORKAROUND: To prevent this issue, do not log off after you have logged on and intend to use IDCC. If you unintentionally log off the system, then IDCC can be re-launched only after the system is shut down and restarted. - ISSUE: The system intermittently crashes and reboots when doing an apply or restore of the memory palette if changes to the memory palette involve multiple values. STATUS: This issue is under investigation. WORKAROUND: When making changes to the memory palette, try to make only one change (and apply/save) each time. - ISSUE: When large increment changes are made in the manual tuning palettes, the system becomes unstable. WORKAROUND: Select and apply small value changes such as 1% to 5% increments when adjusting system performance. - ISSUE: When configured with Microsoft Windows* Vista*, the CPU voltage tooltip displays the Enhanced Intel(R) Speedstep (EIST) setting different from what it is in the BIOS. STATUS: Investigating. - ISSUE: Hardware changes, such as memory type and processor, may invalidate presets, and certain service release updates may not be compatible with presets generated from an older version. WORKAROUND: Only use presets that were created with the same version of Intel Desktop Control Center and with the same hardware configuration. If you wish to change hardware or upgrade to a newer version of the application, document the presets you wish to reuse. - ISSUE: When the Help file is maximized clicking Intel Desktop Control Center on the taskbar causes display anomalies between the application and Help file window. WORKAROUND: Close the Help file window before clicking Intel Desktop Control Center on the taskbar. - ISSUE: The main console does not fully display when the resolution is reduced to 800x600. WORKAROUND: Use the recommended 1024x768 resolution with 16-bit color or higher and Normal font size. - ISSUE: When large fonts are used, the display is distorted. WORKAROUND: Use the recommended 1024x768 resolution with 16-bit color or higher and Normal font size. - ISSUE: Changing the Host Clock Frequency (HCF) does not take immediate effect when running CPU-Z. WORKAROUND: When the HCF is changed, an additional reboot is required to load the changes if CPU-Z is or was running. - ISSUE: When the system is connected to a router that is not on a network, installation is slow (about five minutes) and operation response is slow. STATUS: No changes planned. The system can be removed from the router or the router should be connected to a fully working network with Internet access.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
