To create a bootable HP USB Flash Disk that can be used for the LSI SAS MegaRAID 8344ELP Firwmare Utility, complete the following steps:
1. Download the SoftPaq file and extract the package contents to a known location on your hard drive.
Example: C:swsetupSP43809
: Files that are extracted in Step 1 are as follows:
- dos4gw.exe
- fls_sas.bat
- MegaCli.exe
- sasfw401.rom
2. Click Start, then click Run, and then type CMD in the Open box to open a Command window.
3. Navigate to the directory where the SoftPaq files were extracted.
Example: cd c:swsetupSP43809
4. Insert the USB flash drive (drive key) that you want to use to create the bootable media, and make a note of the drive letter that is assigned to it by Microsoft Windows or Microsoft Windows Vista and copy the files to the drive.
: Step 5 overwrites any existing data on the specified drive letter.
5. Create the bootable USB flash drive (drive key) by typing the following command:
mkusb :
6. Close the Command window.
7. Use the Microsoft Windows "Safely Remove Hardware" utility (in the system tray) to remove the USB Flash Drive from the computer. Using this utility ensures that the drive is synchronized before removal.
8. To use the LSI SAS MegaRAID 8344ELP Firwmare Utility, boot the workstation to the USB Flash Drive (drive key) that was created in Steps 1 through 7.
9. At the DOS prompt type:
`fls_sas.bat`
The updated script is executed and the new firmware is installed.
It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
