Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 and Intel PRO/Wireless 2915 Network Connection driver Version 9.0.4.17: 
PREREQUISITES: 
The following prerequisite applies to systems configured with an Intel
PRO/Wireless 2200 Network Connection and Intel PROSet Software: 
  - If Intel PROSet software is installed and the installed version is earlier
    than version 9.0, it is recommended that the Intel PROSet software be
    uninstalled before upgrading the driver. If the Intel PROSet software is
    required, install Intel PROSet 10.5 software (available in SoftPaq Number
    SP33406 [or later]) after the driver is upgraded.

NOTE

:  Intel PROSet software is only necessary for users who require advanced
user profile management, single-sign-on capabilities, advanced diagnostics, or
access to wireless networks that use Cisco Compatible Extensions. Home and small
office/home office (SOHO) users typically do not need this application.

  It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
