HP ProtectTools Embedded Security Utility 5.5.2 Rev.G Description

This package contains Embedded Security for HP ProtectTools for the supported desktop models and operating systems.

Embedded Security for HP ProtectTools is a 1.2 trusted platform module (TPM) software security solution for PCs.

Embedded Security for HP ProtectTools uses the TPM embedded security chip to help protect against unauthorized access to sensitive user data and credentials. Features include TPM administration, user enrollment and management of user pass phrases, and configuration of enhanced Microsoft Encrypted File System (EFS) and Personal Secure Drive for helping to protect user data.

ENHANCEMENTS:

- Improves PSDrt.exe memory management.

FIXES:

- Corrects localization text for the Japanese language user interface.
- Resolves an issue where an "APPCRASH" event occurs during the first reboot after installing the Embedded Security for HP ProtectTools SoftPaq.
- Corrects an issue where an "Unspecified error" message is incorrectly displayed when restoring from a backup using the HP ProtectTools Security Manager.

PREREQUISITES:

- If a BIOS Administrative Password is already set, TPM must be configured to be viewable through the BIOS Setup (F10) options BEFORE installing this SoftPaq.

- Infineon TPM driver is required for Microsoft Windows XP. It is automatically installed by this SoftPaq.

NOTE:

Follow the instructions in the HP Security User Guide to correctly set up TPM hardware and software.

- HP ProtectTools Security Manager Suite 4.00 must be installed BEFORE installing this SoftPaq.

  It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
