Sony BDP-S580 Blu-ray Player Firmware M07.R.0631 Description

This utility upgrades the Blu-ray Disc Home Theatre firmware to version M07.R.0631 and provides the following benefits:

Improvements over firmware version M07.R.0629:
- Improves BRAVIA Internet Video playability

Benefits provided by previous upgrades and included in version M07.R.0631:

- Improves disc playability
- Improves A/V sync function
- Improves BD-ROM playability
- Adds the ability to view 3D panoramic photos taken with the 3D Sweep Panorama function available on some Sony cameras
Note: Requires 3D HDTV, 3D glasses, 3D emitter, and 10.2 Gbps HDMI cable
- Adds the Web Search function using the Gracenote Entertainment database
Note: The BDV-E280 and BDV-T28 models do not include this feature
- Adds the SendToMyTV function
- Improves VUDU connectivity through BRAVIA Internet Video
- Adds the ability to play 1080/60p video files from Sony cameras connected by USB cable to the player
- Adds the ability to control the Party Streaming function using the Media Remote App
Note: The BDV-E280 and BDV-T28 models do not include this feature.
- Adds the ability to share your BRAVIA Internet Video content via Facebook or Twitter online services
- Adds the ability to play discs recorded in AVCHD version 2.0 format (AVCHD 3D/Progressive)

Firmware Upgrade Instructions

WARNING:Please follow the upgrade instructions carefully. Failure to follow the instructions may interrupt the upgrade process and may cause the Blu-ray Disc/DVD Home Theatre System to be unresponsive or to require repair.

Note: The firmware upgrade process usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on system configuration and network connection.
Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the Blu-ray Disc/DVD Home Theatre System is connected.
Connect the LAN(100) terminal on the player to your Internet source using an Ethernet cable.
- Power on the Blu-ray Disc/DVD Home Theatre System.
- If there is a disc in the player, please remove the disc.
- Press the FUNCTION button repeatedly until BD/DVD function appears in the front panel display. IMPORTANT: The upgrade cannot be performed unless the system is set to BD/DVD function.
- At the xross media bar menu, use the arrow keys on the remote control to select Setup - System Settings, and then press the ENTER button.
- Use the arrow keys to select Quick Start Mode and make sure that the Quick Start Mode is set to Off.
Note: If the Quick Start Mode is set to On, change the setting to Off. Otherwise, the firmware upgrade may not succeed.
- At the xross media bar menu, use the arrow keys on the remote control to select Setup - Network Update and then press the ENTER button.
- The message Perform version update? is displayed on the television.
- Select OK and then press the ENTER button.
- The download process starts and the download screen is displayed on the television.
- During the download the message DL */9 is displayed on the television. Note: The * changes to 0 through 9 indicating the download progress.
- After the download is complete, the upgrade starts and UPDATING appears on the player front panel display.
- The firmware upgrade is complete when COMPLETE appears on the player front panel display.
- WARNING: Do not operate or power off the player until this message is displayed. Doing so may cause the Blu-ray Disc/DVD Home Theatre System to be unresponsive or to require repair.
- The Blu-ray Disc/DVD Home Theatre System will automatically power off.
- Power on the Blu-ray Disc/DVD Home Theatre System
- Check the current firmware version to confirm that the upgrade has successfully installed.
- Note: If the last four digits of the version number are 0631, the firmware upgrade was successful.
