Buffalo LS410D NAS Firmware 1.31 Description

Added and Modified Features:

- iTunes server now supports multi-layered shared folders.
- Added SSL certification installation.

Bug Fixes:

- Fixed user management problems.
- NAS Navigator2 can now detect this LinkStation.
- Fixed the problem with logging into Settings after some operations.
- Fixed the problem where collapsed files were saved in the trash when files shared with SMB were removed by Mac OS 10.6.8.
- Fixed the problem of files intermittently changing their permissions to read-only.
- Fixed problems with backing up a large number of files.
- Fixed the problem with quotas where only 2047 GB was assigned when more than 3 TB of drive space was available.
- Fixed the problem where the LinkStation would go into sleep mode after a complete backup when sleep mode was not configured.
- Fixed the sleep timer priority.
- Fixed a shared folder vulnerability.
- Fixed the problem where external hard drives with two or more bays were not detected.
- Fixed the email notification header to include the date.
- Fixed the access errors with HFS+ formatted external drives after a disk check.
- DLNA clients can now files on the LinkSation.

How to Update:

- Connect the LinkStation to the computer that will run the updater, and make sure both devices are on the same network subnet. The subnet masks should be the same and the first three numbers of the IP addresses should be the same. The last number of the IP addresses should be different.
- Exit all applications. Also, disable or exit any firewall software. You may resume firewall after the update is complete.
- Extract the downloaded file and run LSUpdater.exe. When a LinkStation is detected, an update window will open.
- If multiple LinkStation units are connected, select which unit to update.
- Click 'Update' and enter the LinkStation's admin password.
- Click 'OK'.
- The firmware will begin updating. The info LED will flash during the update process.
- When update is complete, a message will appear.

Notes:

- Do not turn the unit or the hub off until the update is finished.
- The update will take several minutes. If it times out after 10 minutes or more, reboot the LinkStation and try again.
- Note: If your LinkStation is in EM mode, reboot it and try again.
- Do not access your LinkStation while updating firmware.
- If the firmware update fails due to inconsistent wireless connectivity, connect your PC via a wired connection, then try again.
- Update may fail if the computer downloading the firmware has multiple network interfaces enabled. Disable any unnecessary network interfaces and try again.
- USB drives are not mounted automatically after a firmware update. Unplug and then reconnect them after the update.

  It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
