Only the latest version of Cyrus Cadence should be used after updating the firmware. This will deliver the best user experience and ensure that your system benefits from the latest features and design improvements. Earlier versions of the app are not supported and may cause unusual and potentially hazardous behaviour in your Lyric which Cyrus is unable to cover within the guarantee.
- Remove the power from your Cyrus Lyric. The mains power to the Lyric must be disconnected for at least 10 minutes before proceeding.
- Connect one end of the supplied USB cable to your Windows PC.
- Locate the upgrade switch on the back of your Cyrus Lyric. This is found inside the small hole next to the upgrade input on the rear, next to the mini-USB input labelled Upgrade.
- Apply a thin pointed object to the hole (a ballpoint pen works very well) in order to depress the switch located within the hole. You should be able to feel it click slightly when pressed.
- While holding this switch down, connect the mains power lead into the back of Lyric and wait a few seconds.
- Release the upgrade switch, then connect the other end of the supplied USB cable to the mini-USB input labelled Upgrade.
- After a few seconds, a window will pop up on your PC (you may need to find it manually as an external drive on some versions of Windows) containing a file with a filename ending .bin. Select the file in the popup window and delete it.
- Wait 30 seconds then select the .bin firmware file that you downloaded earlier and drag and drop it into the popup window.
- Wait until the file has successfully copied over (this may take approximately 45 seconds and the process must be left to complete without being interrupted), then wait a further 60 seconds.
- Remove the mini-USB cable, then the power cable from the Lyric, and wait 10 seconds before proceeding to Stage 2.
- Connect the power cable to your Lyric and switch it on, ensuring that it is connected to the same network as your computer.
- Locate your Lyric’s IP address. This can be found by selecting Menu > Setup > Network > Status. The IP address will be four numbers separated by a dot and usually starts 192.168.x.xxx
- Open an internet browser window on your computer and in the address bar type in the Lyric’s IP address followed by /update.asp. It should then read (with your IP address where the x’s are in this example): xxx.xxx.x.xxx/update.asp
- When the page loads, click the button on the right called Choose File or Browse, select the .bcd file that you downloaded earlier and click Upload.
- On the next screen, click OK and the new firmware will be loaded onto your Cyrus Lyric. It is very important that both your computer and Lyric stay switched on and connected to the network while this is happening. Interrupting the upload may cause permanent damage to your unit.
- When the upload is complete, a new web page will load. Please ignore the instructions on this page and simply remove and re-connect the power to your Cyrus Lyric and switch on. After 30 seconds, select Setup, then Factory Reset, then Yes.
Applying a newer firmware version than the one already installed on your unit can bring various enhancements, include workarounds for diverse problems encountered by the device, and improve or add newly developed features.
On the other hand, downgrading the firmware version can recover the device’s functionality in the event of a software update either turning up faulty or causing the unit’s overall performance to drop. However, bear in mind that applying an older firmware isn’t recommended and might not always be possible.
When it comes to the update steps, due to the large variety of devices and numerous ways for installing a new firmware, it is recommended that you carefully read and understand the upgrade steps, and consider applying a different firmware only when you have familiarized yourself with the update method.
As the installation process is most of the times quite risky, this step should be taken by users that have the ability to successfully complete the update; regular users may initiate it at their own risk. Moreover, it’s best that this task be performed in a steady power environment such as the one ensured by a UPS unit.
Therefore, if you consider applying this release, hit the download button, take into account all the aforementioned aspects, and update the device’s firmware. Also make sure you constantly check with our website to ensure that you don’t miss a single new release.
It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
