Kramer VP-731 Presentation Scaler-Switcher HDMI EDID Firmware 1.07 Description

Fixes:

- EDID of both VGA and HDMI inputs is upgraded using this procedure

EDID upgrade procedure

1. If you are updating a VGA input on the scaler connect this input to VGA output of your PC via non-standard VGA cable as shown above (pins 5, 12 and 15 are connected, all other pins are disconnected).
2. If you are updating a DVI or HDMI input on the scaler connect this input to DVI or HDMI output of your PC a standard DVI or HDMI cable. It is possible to use DVI-HDMI adapters to connect between DVI and HDMI inputs and outputs.
3. Before upgrading HDMI input set EDID HDMI Protection in OSD of the scaler to OFF
4. Start EDID Upgrader software.
5. Click BROWSER button and browse to the appropriate PKG file.
Important Note: Pay attention to distinguish between EDID files for VGA and HDMI
6. In Step 2 select appropriate input on the scaler that you are going to update – for example VGA 1 or VGA 2 or HDMI 1 etc. For DVI ports select HDMI.
Important Note: Do not try to upgrade inputs which are not supported by this program.
7. In Step 3 select appropriate scaler that you are going to upgrade. Kramer scalers are shown under KRMx name – usually KRM0.
Important Note: Carefully verify that you select only Kramer devices. Changing by mistake EDID file of any other device (for example built-in screen of a laptop) can cause irreversible damage.
8. In Step 4 select all 3 actions – Erase, Program and Verify
9. In Step 5 click Go. Wait until upgrade process ends.
10. In Information Box check success message (Pass) for verification.

About Device Firmware:

Applying a newer firmware version than the one already installed on your unit can bring various enhancements, include workarounds for diverse problems encountered by the device, and improve or add newly developed features.

On the other hand, downgrading the firmware version can recover the device’s functionality in the event of a software update either turning up faulty or causing the unit’s overall performance to drop. However, bear in mind that applying an older firmware isn’t recommended and might not always be possible.

When it comes to the update steps, due to the large variety of devices and numerous ways for installing a new firmware, it is recommended that you carefully read and understand the upgrade steps, and consider applying a different firmware only when you have familiarized yourself with the update method.

As the installation process is most of the times quite risky, this step should be taken by users that have the ability to successfully complete the update; regular users may initiate it at their own risk. Moreover, it’s best that this task be performed in a steady power environment such as the one ensured by a UPS unit.

Therefore, if you consider applying this release, hit the download button, take into account all the aforementioned aspects, and update the device’s firmware. Also make sure you constantly check with our website to ensure that you don’t miss a single new release.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
