Swann NVRx-7085/7285/7300 Firmware GA3.1 Description

Update:

- Download the correct package
Extract the package to the root directory of your thumb drive.
- If your NVR is currently turned on, insert the flash drive to the NVR’s USB port then restart the NVR. If your NVR is turned off, insert the flash drive first then connect the power adapter to the NVR.
- The NVR’s firmware will automatically be upgraded. During the upgrade procedure, the screen may flicker or go blank, don’t worry this is normal. The upgrade will take up to 10 minutes to complete.
- When the firmware upgrade has completed, the Setup Wizard will appear on-screen. Complete the Setup Wizard as per the Quick Start Guide included with your NVR (or at our website support.swann.com). Remove the flash drive from the USB port.
- To support the new remote playback feature, you must format the hard drive (all video events will be removed). In Live View mode, right-click the mouse to access the Menu Bar then click Menu. Click Device then click the checkbox next to the hard drive. Click the Init button to format the drive then click OK to confirm. Right-click the mouse to exit.

As the first note at the top states, the Build No. in the System Information area should now end with GA 3.1. The update has then been applied.

NB: To see if you need this update, in the recorder's menu, go to System then System Information. If your Build No. ends in GA 3.1, this update is not needed.

IMPORTANT:

Before proceeding, if there are video events on the hard drive that are required, you will need to back these up prior to updating (see Search: Backup in the instruction manual available at support.swann.com). The hard drive will be unreadable immediately after the update, until you complete Step 5.

About Network Video Recorder Updates:

Applying a new firmware package on your Network Video Recorder (NVR) should improve overall performance and stability, fix various issues encountered with the device, or add support for newly developed features.

The NVR should be carefully upgraded by a power user (that is to say, someone who has the know-how to successfully complete the process), but it can also be performed by an average user at his or her own risk.

Either way, given the fact that each producer has their own method for installing a new firmware, and that every device has a particular way to enter the update mode, you must not consider upgrading the software until you have read and thoroughly understood the installation steps.

As a rule, said steps shouldn’t pose too much of a challenge because manufacturers strive to make them as easy as possible. As with everything else, exceptions do occur, and users should be prepared for them.

Usually, you should transfer the compatible firmware to the Recorder through a USB cable or a memory card, and afterwards enter update mode from the unit’s setup menu or through a specific power-on method.

With this in mind, if you intend to apply this release, make sure the package is compatible with your Network Video Recorder and that it brings about the changes you want or require; hit the download button and apply the new firmware.

Don’t forget to regularly check with our website so that you don’t miss any updates.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
