- Improved factory calibration procedure to facilitate accurate RGB / YUV uniformity - Implemented a firmware update to provide for more accurate and uniform factory calibration. This update in no way affects customer facing unit operation.
1. Download the firmware file.
2. Power on the scaler and a computer with internet access.
3. Connect the computer to the video scaler through either the front panel Config port or the rear panel RS-232 captive screw connectors.
4. Open the Extron Firmware Loader by double-clicking on the desktop icon or selecting it from the start menu. The Connection dialog box opens.
5. From the drop-down menus, select the device name, the connection method ( RS-232 ), the COM port, and the baud rate.
6. Click on the connect button. When the connection is made, the name of the device appears, with a green check mark, in the Connected Device box.
7. Click the Browse button and navigate to the folder where the firmware file was saved.
8. Click Add button. The Add Device screen closes to reveal the main Firmware Loader window.
9. Click the Begin button. The firmware transfer takes approximately 3 minutes. The progress of the transfer is shown by a green bar in the Total Progress panel.
NOTE: During the firmware upload, the front panel LED and video output are disabled.
10. When the transfer is complete, the Progress column in the Devices pane reads 100% and the Status column reads Complete.
Applying a newer firmware version than the one already installed on your unit can bring various enhancements, include workarounds for diverse problems encountered by the device, and improve or add newly developed features.
On the other hand, downgrading the firmware version can recover the device’s functionality in the event of a software update either turning up faulty or causing the unit’s overall performance to drop. However, bear in mind that applying an older firmware isn’t recommended and might not always be possible.
