Extron SW4 USB Switcher Firmware 3.01 Description

This package provides the necessary installation files of Extron SW4 USB Switcher Firmware version 3.01.

New features:

- Added feature to enable/disable Hot Key Switching (SW4 USB Plus only, originated in v3.0) – In prior versions of firmware, Hot Key switching could not be disabled when Host emulation was enabled. Revision 3.01 now allows Hot Key switching to be enabled/disabled discretely through SIS commands while maintaining Host emulation.

Installation steps:

1. Download the Firmware.
2. Open Extron Firmware Loader. The Firmware Loader window opens with the Add Device window in front of it.
3. On the Add Device window, select your SW USB model from the Device Names drop-down menu.
4. From the Connection Method drop-down menu, select RS-232 (the only option).
5. Select the appropriate options from the Com Port and Baud Rate menus.
6. Click Connect . If the connection is successful, the name of your SW USB model is displayed in green and followed by a check mark in the Connected Device section.
7. Click the Browse button in the New Firmware File (Optional) section.
8. On the Open window, navigate to the new firmware file, which has a S19 extension, and double-click it.
9. On the Add Device window, the path to the new firmware file is displayed in the Path field.
10. Click Add. The Add Device window closes, and your SW USB name and information appear in the Devices section of the Firmware Loader window.
11. Click Begin. The following indicators on the Firmware Loader window show the progress of the update:
- The Transfer Time section shows the amounts of remaining and elapsed time for the update.
- The Total Progress section displays a progress bar with Uploading... above it.
- In the Devices section, the Progress column displays an incrementing percentage and another progress bar. The Status column displays Uploading.
12. When the firmware upload and unit reset are complete, close the Firmware Loader window.

About USB Switcher Firmware:

Applying a newer firmware version than the one already installed on your unit can bring various enhancements, include workarounds for diverse problems encountered by the device, and improve or add newly developed features.

On the other hand, downgrading the firmware version can recover the device’s functionality in the event of a software update either turning up faulty or causing the unit’s overall performance to drop. However, bear in mind that applying an older firmware isn’t recommended and might not always be possible.

When it comes to the update steps, due to the large variety of devices and numerous ways for installing a new firmware, it is recommended that you carefully read and understand the upgrade steps, and consider applying a different firmware only when you have familiarized yourself with the update method.

As the installation process is most of the times quite risky, this step should be taken by users that have the ability to successfully complete the update; regular users may initiate it at their own risk. Moreover, it’s best that this task be performed in a steady power environment such as the one ensured by a UPS unit.

Therefore, if you consider applying this release, hit the download button, take into account all the aforementioned aspects, and update the device’s firmware. Also make sure you constantly check with our website to ensure that you don’t miss a single new release.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
