NETGEAR WC9500 Wireless Controller Firmware 5.0.0.26 Description

New Features:

- RF Planning and Heat Map feature for 9500, with the enhanced UI and better configuration options for selecting different types of obstacles for RF and antenna types for planning and heat map generation.
- Support outdoor AP930
- Support 3:1 redundancy
- Captive portal improvements like URL redirect and lobby admins improvement.
- L2 multicast AP discovery which allows AP in same L2 network to be discovered without option 43.

Bug Fixes:

- Radius Authentication issues resolved when managed APs having duplicate IP addresses.
- LED fixes when WN370 AP group change.
- Band-steering fixes.
- Radio Driver Enhancements.
- WND930 Outdoor AP Support.
- Remote AP fixes, Time zone and DHCP issue, causing the tunnel flap fixed.

Serviceability and Reliability:

- Reset Reason Enhancements - Single place to look for understanding the AP reboot reason.
- Crash Dump infrastructure for all the AP models (except WNDAP380Rv2) supported, earlier this support was there for only WNAP320, WNDAP350, WNDAP360.
- More debug information regarding the application which got crashed.
- User readable timings in the LOG files.

UI Enhancements:

- Fix for showing weird SSID in the client monitor page.
- Help file improvements.
- UI bug fixes in Monitor-Usage Graph.
- Support to change the floor/building id for multiple APs at a time.

Upgrade enhancements:

- Upgrade fixes to avoid RMA scenarios.
- Fixes in scheduled upgrade, related to time zone update issues..

Captive portal enhancement:

- URL redirect.
- Requirement for Lobby Admin Improvement
- Allow adding/deleting multiple users for captive.
- Allow printing improvements with Welcome note and image.

Known Issues:

- Initial firmware upgrade from M1 (3.1.x.x) image, (one time for WC9500 M4 beta) needs to be done using TFTP or FTP method in Maintenance > Upgrade.
- Radius proxy server in wireless controller may not work, if there are managed AP’s in down state and its last known IP address matches with one of the connected and up AP in the same wireless controller.
- SNMP traps are not supported in WC9500 M4 beta firmware.
- Wireless client separation feature do not work when clients are connected on different AP’s on same profile.
- Inconsistency in L2/L3 discovery for AP’s.
- By running the L2/L3 discovery multiple times, user can discover all AP’s.
- Captive portal unauthenticated clients can able to send and receive multicast traffic.
- Captive portal authenticated clients require re-authentication when roaming from Master Controller managed AP to Save Controller managed AP or vice versa.
- Wireless fixed data rate setting for WNDAP660/WNDAP620 will not be supported.

Upgrade Instructions:

- Download and extract the new software to a convenient place such as your desktop.
- Log into the WC9500
- Select Maintenance > Upgrade from the main/submenu.
- In the Firmware Upgrade section, select Local File and click Browse.
- Locate the downloaded file and click Apply.
- This will start the software upgrade to your WC9500. This may take some time. Do not interrupt the upgrade process.
- You have use TFTP/FTP method if the current image version is 3.1.x.x.
- At the conclusion of the upgrade, your WC9500 will reboot.

  It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
