NETGEAR FS728TPv2 Switch Firmware 5.0.2.33 Description

Bug Fixes:

- Fix the problem that the switch reboots if using SSL certificate files generated from NETGEAR managed switch.
- Fix the problem of switch not able to obtain IP address from some DHCP server. This particular DHCP server requires the source address from the DHCP discovery packet to be 0.0.0.0.
- Improve the PING (ICMP request) response time of FS728Tv2.
- Fix the problem that the switch does not try to obtain time from SNTP server anymore if the SNTP server is rebooted. When this happens, status of "Kiss of Death" is shown in the "Last Attempt Status" column of SNTP Server Status under System > Management > Time > SNTP Server Configuration page.
- Fix the problem that SNMP agent reports wrong statistics (ifXTable -> ifHCInoctets) on LAG interface.
- Fix the problem that DiffServ policy entry (QoS > DiffServ > Advanced > Policy Configuration) can't be deleted if the policy name contains "-".
- Fix the problem that excess VoIP traffics with Auto-VoIP enabled could cause the switch to reboot or making the WEB GUI inaccessible after some period of time.

Known issues:

- While the link is up, port cannot be removed from a VLAN if it is also member of a LAG.
- Workaround: Remove the link or remove the port from the LAG first.
- After setting the maximum number of allowed static locked MAC address to zero (under Security > Traffic Control > Port Security > Interface Configuration), no static MAC address can be added even when port security is disabled.
- Workaround: Change back the "Max Allowed Statically Locked MAC" from 0 to 20.
- Can’t remove a policy entry completely in the table under QoS > Diffserv > Advanced > Policy Configuration the first time.
- Workaround: Need to select the same entry and click DELETE again

Installation Procedure:

- Save the downloadable package.
- Log into the router’s web user interface.
- Navigate to the firmware upgrade section of your wireless unit.
- Select the present firmware and configure your router to install this file.
- Wait as the device carries out this process.
- Reboot the unit if required.

About Switch Firmware:

Given the large variety of models and different methods for upgrading the switch, if you wish to apply this package, we recommend that you read and understand the installation steps before you install a new firmware, even if you are a power user.

Usually the update procedure isn’t much of a hassle as manufacturers try to make it as simple as possible; however, there are cases that are exceptions to this rule. First off, go to the system information page of the switch to check that the currently installed version isn’t either newer or matching this release.

Applying a new firmware can decrease the security vulnerabilities, enhance overall performance and compatibility, improve various power management functions, resolve different errors, and add support for newly developed technologies and protocols.

It is recommended that you perform this step in a steady power environment such as the one ensured by a UPS unit, and that you don’t interrupt the upgrade in any way, because this might cause the switch to malfunction.

That being said, click the download button, get and apply the new version, and check back with our website constantly to stay up to speed with the latest releases.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
