NETGEAR DST6501 Range Extender Firmware 1.0.0.34 Description

New Features and Enhancements

- Improves the wireless performance for some wireless clients.

Bug Fixes

- Fixes the incorrect GUI display issues in Attached Device and Statistics pages.
- Fixes the multiple devices firmware update check issue.
- Fixes the DST security paring fail issue by changing the default public key to a private key when pressing the WPS and DST Router Sync button.
- Fixes the re-direct to wrong page link issue.
- Fixes the incorrect Power LED blinking issue when the DST adapter pairs with other DST devices.
- Fixes the Power LED not blinking issue when the DST adapter updates the firmware.

Known Issues

- The LED ON/OFF function in the GUI is not working.

Firmware Upgrade Instruction:

- Write down all the settings which you changed from the default values, since you may need to reenter them manually.
- Using the Download Link below, download and extract the new firmware to a convenient place such as your desktop.
- Log in to the router using a Web browser.
- Click Maintenance tab Firmware Upgrade.
- Click Browse and find the file you just downloaded.
- Click Upload. Do not interrupt the upgrade while the DST6501 does this step.
Note: To avoid wireless disconnect issue during the firmware download process, NETGEAR recommends that firmware upgrade be performed on a computer with wired connection.

Important Note:

- The upgrade process is completed when the on screen progress bar completes.
- If the upgrade progress bar on web GUI doesn't display correctly during firmware upgrade, you can still check the status using LEDs. After firmware upgrade is done and boots up the system, the Wi-Fi LED will turn to blue again, and Ethernet LED will be lit once the boots up is completed. Please DO NOT power off or reboot the device during firmware upgrade, otherwise, it may result to a corrupt firmware and cause the device not to work

About Range Extender Firmware:

If you intend to apply this firmware, first go to the system information page of the extender and make sure that the currently applied version isn’t either newer or matching this release; you should get the downloadable package only after you have done this.

Updating to a new firmware can resolve vulnerability problems, fix various compatibility issues, enhanced existing features, correct different language-related errors, and improve overall performance and stability.

As for the installation steps, since there are numerous extender models, it would be best if you read and, above all, understand the update procedure before you proceed to applying the new firmware; this holds true even if you are a power user.

Bear in mind, that during the upgrade, you mustn’t use the device’s buttons or interrupt the process in any way. Doing so can cause serious malfunctions to the wireless extender.

Therefore, if this firmware satisfies your needs, get the desired version, and install it to your system; if not, check with our website as often as possible so that you don’t miss the update that will improve your device. 

  It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
