- Added a Switch Management Mode on the Web GUI to allow user to choose to manage the switch from Web browser only or from both Web browser and Plus Utility.
- Made power saving feature configurable.
- Implemented new and more secure encryption algorithm to work with new version of Plus Utility (V2.4.3 or higher).
- Fixed the vulnerabilities of cross-site Scripting (XSS) and cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks.
- Fixed the issue where a pop-up alert "The product is already registered, no further actions required" will appear in web GUI after the switch has been registered.
- After JGS516PE and GS116Ev2 are upgraded to FW version V2.0.1.40 or higher, it cannot work with Plus Utility version prior to V2.4.3. Please download the latest Plus Utility from http://www.netgear.com/support/product/PCU
- Download the new firmware and unzip it to get the switch firmware image.
- There are two methods to upgrade the new firmware from PC to the switch.
- Below are the steps to upgrade the firmware via HTTP, which is the most convenient method. For the other method, please check the IG and SW User Manual for details.
- To use HTTP method, go to GUI page “Maintenance > Firmware Upgrade".
- Click the Browse button and locate and select the new firmware image file.
- Click the Apply button.
- When the upgrade is complete, your switch restarts. The upgrade process typically takes about three minutes.
- To avoid the risk of corrupting the firmware, do not interrupt the upgrade. For example, do not turn off the switch or disconnect it.
Given the large variety of models and different methods for upgrading the switch, if you wish to apply this package, we recommend that you read and understand the installation steps before you install a new firmware, even if you are a power user.
Usually the update procedure isn’t much of a hassle as manufacturers try to make it as simple as possible; however, there are cases that are exceptions to this rule. First off, go to the system information page of the switch to check that the currently installed version isn’t either newer or matching this release.
Applying a new firmware can decrease the security vulnerabilities, enhance overall performance and compatibility, improve various power management functions, resolve different errors, and add support for newly developed technologies and protocols.
It is recommended that you perform this step in a steady power environment such as the one ensured by a UPS unit, and that you don’t interrupt the upgrade in any way, because this might cause the switch to malfunction.
That being said, click the download button, get and apply the new version, and check back with our website constantly to stay up to speed with the latest releases.
It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
