1. Download the firmware upgrade from the ICARUS website. Never install upgrades from third-party websites, this will render your warranty invalid. You can find the upgrade files in the Downloads Section of the website. Click on the image of the ICARUS Omnia to open the downloads for this product. If there are no files here it means that no firmware upgrade is available yet.
2. Unzip the file to a folder on your computer using a decompression tool like WinZip or 7Zip. Possibly you can do this even with your operating system’s functionality, but this depends on the version of the OS your computer has installed.
3. There are 3 files in the download package:
1) these instructions
2) a file with the extension *.img and
3) the application LiveSuitPack_v1.07.
4. Run the LiveSuitPack_v1.07 application. This will unzip all files inside this archive to the current folder
5. In this folder there are several driver installation files with the names drvinstaller_IA64, drvinstaller_X64, drvinstaller_X86. If your operating system is Windows XP or lower, do not do anything with these files. If your computer’s operating system is Windows 7 32-bit, run drvinstaller_X86. If your operating system is Windows 7 64-bit, run drvinstaller_X64.
6. Run the application LiveSuit.exe
7. Press the button to select the actual firmware file. This file ends with the extension *.img and is found in the folder that you unzipped the firmware download package to 8. Now connect the ICARUS Omnia e-reader via the USB cable 9. Wait until the Omnia’s screen shows that there is a USB connection (“USB Connected”)
10. Click on the "Settings" button to install the firmware. In the pop-up screen that now opens, select yes.
11. A screen will pop-up.
Select No. This will do an upgrade without formatting the e-reader’s memory.
12. The e-reader will start upgrading, a progress bar will show the progress. Upgrading will take a couple of minutes 13. After a few minutes the update is complete.
14. The upgrade is now finished and the the e-reader will restart
15. After a firmware upgrade you will have to select your default language again
16. Your e-reader is now ready for use again!
Update your e-Reader firmware version to this release, and the device can get touch features improvements, application updates, usability and compatibility enhancements, as well as several other related changes.
If you want to apply this version, the installation process isn’t much of a hassle because each manufacturer tries to make it as easy as possible: most of the times, you need to transfer the new firmware to the e-Reader through the available methods, and initiate the upgrade from the setup menu.
Still, since there are several ways for entering update mode, and numerous e-Reader models and manufacturers, it would be best if you read the installation steps and follow them precisely.
Bear in mind that if you try to apply an incompatible firmware, or fail to completely perform the upgrade, the unit can encounter serious malfunctions and might even be rendered unusable.
Therefore, if this package is developed for your device, click the download button, get the package and apply the new firmware. Also, don’t forget to constantly check our website so that you don’t miss any new releases.
It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
