It is important that you take your time with the update and follow all the steps including the waiting times.
1) Launch the UCam247Live app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device and tap the left arrow to the right of your camera entry and then tap the Edit Settings icon . Now go to Advanced Settings > About Device and make a note of the IP address (e.g. the setup wizard will display this as 192.168.x.x or 10.0.x.x etc.).
2) Now type the IP address (e.g. if it is 192.168.0.5) into the address bar of your web browser as http://192.168.0.5 and hit return.
3) You should now be at the camera's web interface. Click Setting and enter your login when prompted (Default username and password being admin and admin). But if you changed the password you need to enter that password.
4) Go to Task > Task Management and turn off ALL Tasks by unticking all the boxes under the Enable column. Click Apply.
5) Go to Tools > Firmware Upgrade
6) Click Continue > Browse (and locate the firmware from your desktop or wherever you have download it to on your computer) > Upgrade
7) At this point WAIT for the screen to refresh automatically NB: don't click away from this screen once you have click Upgrade or the update will fail and you may corrupt the software in your camera rendering it unusable and the Warranty will become void
8) After a few minutes the update will finish automatically and you should simply follow the steps then shown on screen to complete the update install.
9) Once the camera has been rebooted you can now go back to Task > Task Management and turn on the Tasks you need again. Click Apply.
You should now be able to verify you have the latest firmware installed by clicking the System tab in the Setting section of the camera's web interface. You can now use the camera as before.
If the camera does not reappear in your browser after the reboot in Step 9 do the following:
a) Disconnect the power to the camera and after a couple of minutes reconnect the power and leave the camera a couple of minutes to reboot fully. Then check to see if you can access the camera again either in your web browser or the app on your phone/tablet.
b) If the above has not worked then you will need to power off the camera and connect the camera to your router with an ethernet cable. Now reconnect the power and after a couple of minutes check if you can see the camera via the mobile app. If you can you should check the WiFi settings to ensure they are still intact after the firmware update.
Updating to a newer firmware version than the one already installed on your network camera can improve the device’s overall performance and stability, resolve various issues, and add support for newly developed features or enhance existing ones.
On the other hand, downgrading the camera’s firmware can recover its functionality in the unlikely event the currently installed version is faulty, or the device’s performance dropped after an upgrade. However, bear in mind that applying an earlier build might not always be possible.
Changing the camera’s firmware must be performed when the new release resolves an issue that your device has encountered or adds a new feature (or enhances an existing one) that could prove useful to you.
As for the installation method, the steps vary depending on the model you own, but basically, you must connect your camera via an Ethernet cable (username and password required), and use the downloadable file in the Firmware Update section to upgrade your device. Make sure you do not interrupt the installation process.
However, make sure you carefully read and understand the installation steps so that you don’t end up with a broken device. This process isn’t intended to be destructive, but still, it’s best to save all configurations before applying a different firmware.
That being said, if you consider that this firmware improves your device in any way, then hit the download button and get the desired version; if not, check our website as often as possible so that you don’t miss the update that will boost your camera’s performance.
It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
